The Jamestown Public School District has released information regarding back to school for the 2022-23 school year.

BACK TO SCHOOL SCHEDULE

REGISTRATION:  All new students to the school district may register by calling at the District Office at 252-1950 for an appointment.  Hours for registration are 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

OPENING DAY OF SCHOOL: Jamestown Public Schools will open with full sessions Thursday, August 25, 2022 at the following times. Elementary grades 1-5 begins at 8:30 AM, Grades 6-8 begins at 8:20 AM and Grades 9-12 at 7:50 AM. Kindergarten students will be assessed on August 25 and 26 and a schedule will be sent to parents, the first day of school for kindergarten students will be August 29.  ALL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS with an “early bird” 7:50 AM class either at the High School or the Career and Technology Center will report to their homerooms at the High School at 8:47 AM on the first day of school.

               Dismissal time at the High School is 3:15 PM, the Middle School at 3:20 PM and the elementary schools will be dismissed at 3:00 PM.  It is requested that the parents who have children who will be attending kindergarten, transport their children the first 2 days of school so that necessary arrangements can be made for the students requesting transportation service.

MIDDLE SCHOOL SCHEDULES: All schedules will go live in PowerSchool on August 17th.  Students who cannot see their schedule on PowerSchool are welcome to come request a paper copy August 17th and 18th between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. The school will be open these days for students and parents to walk through the building and find their classrooms.

HIGH SCHOOL  SCHEUDLES: All schedules will go live in PowerSchool on August 12th or sooner.  Students who cannot see their schedule on PowerSchool are welcome to come request a paper copy August 17th and 18th between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

All consumable materials are purchased by the patrons.  Textbooks for grades K-12 will be distributed in the students’ regular classroom the first day of school.

FEES: Registration for Bus Service and Food Service will ONLY be at the Middle School in the Cafeteria, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM on Wednesday, August 17th and Thursday, August 18th, 203 2nd Avenue SE.  Activity ticket sales available in the Activity Office at the High School, 1509 10th Ave NE.

TRANSPORTATION: Bus service is provided for the rural public school area students by the school district at no cost. 

Private school students may be transported if space is available.  When available, intracity transportation is limited to those students who live 10 blocks or more from school. The cost for a family is $135.00 per semester per child for the first 2 children, $120.00 per semester for each additional family member attending school in grades K-12.  RURAL students wishing transportation service must also register on the above dates.

SCHOOL LUNCH: The school district encourages all families to complete the free or reduced meal application, which is mailed to each family the second week of August.  If you do not receive an application, please call Cindy Wall, Food Service Director, 952-3015.   The elementary student cost is $3.40 per day, the Middle School student cost is $3.60 per day and the High School student cost is $3.60 per day.  The adult cost is $4.75 per day.  Free and reduce numbers play a significant role in state and federal funding.  Please complete an application if you qualify to support the school.

                Breakfast programs are available at all schools.  The elementary cost is $2.40 per day. The Middle School and High School cost is $2.50 per day. The adult cost is 3.75 per day. The School Lunch program is supported by the charge made to patrons for meals and by the subsidy received from Federal sources through the State Lunch Program

TRANSPORTATION: Bus sign up MUST be completed by August 18 to ride August 25th.
After August 25th there will be a delay to ride the bus

2 Go to forms under each student that is riding and fill out the transportation form L
3. Please PRINT OUT THE FORM before coming in. Payment must be received prior to start date.

Bus service will be provided according to prioritized routes in the following order:
1) Special education routes which are directed in a student’s Individualized Education Plan(IEP),
2) Rural routes
3) City routes
