Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown City Council at the Monday Aug 1 meeting discussed the current condition of park bridges in Jamestown.

Mayor Dwaine Heinrich stated that Jamestown Parks & Recreation is a separate entity from the city and bridges connect their property to some city rightaways.

He pointed out that Central Valley Health District has been working to increase walkability in the community, adding that a grant was discovered that might could cover about 80-percent of the cost needed, for improvements, with the application deadline. August 19, Heinrich saying that Parks & Recreation Executive Director Amy Walters has agreed to write for the grant.

Mayor Heinrich says attorney’s may be looking at a joint powers agreement to determine responsibility’s if the grant is approved.

Also, the Council moved to sell three solid waste trucks to Valley City, unanimously approved at $30,000.

The city approved a Beer, Wine, and Sparkling Wine license for Pit Stop Sports and tabled a proposal from RTS Shearing for the demolition of the building and all associated exterior concrete on the property at 101 2nd Avenue SE.
