Pearl Hendrix, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, August 17, 2022. She was 95.
Funeral service will be at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Jamestown, ND on Friday, August 19, 2022 at 2 p.m. and proceed to the Highland Home cemetery.
Pearl was born on September 11, 1926 in Jamestown, ND. She was educated near Eldridge, ND and worked on the family farm with her sister and brother. She married her husband, Bob Hendrix, in December 1947. Pearl and Bob continued farming and ranching in Cleveland, ND where they raised their two children; son, Robert and daughter, Sylvia. Robert was killed in ND’s worst car accident in the fall of 1968 and the grief was overwhelming for the family. Eventually they moved to Jamestown, ND. Pearl was active in many service organizations, including 4-H, Homemakers, St John’s Lutheran Church Circle, Sunday School teacher, vacation Bible School teacher & Jay Notes chorus.
Pearl and Bob were delighted when their daughter married and had children, but Bob died shortly after the birth of his granddaughter in 1982. Pearl continued to live in Jamestown, ND and enjoyed singing in the church choir, sewing, cooking, baking, gardening, and was a regular for breakfast at Randy’s and McDonald’s. She married Gale Ackerman in November 1989. Gale died in 2006. Pearl moved to Bismarck, ND and eventually to Fargo, ND. Pearl was a devoted Christian and caregiver, caring for her parents and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She led by example and was a strong and determined woman. She touched so many lives and will forever be missed and always loved.
Pearl is survived by her daughter, Sylvia (Kent) Leysring of Fargo; sister, Helen Heer of Garrison; three grandchildren, Garrett (Shelby) Wahl of Bismarck, Lacey (Don) Lange of Bismarck, Jade (Tayler) Leysring of Minnesota; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob; her son, Robert; and her brother, Paul.
