Larry Hopland, 73, passed away Monday morning, August 22, 2022 at CHI Oakes Hospital, Oakes, ND.
Larry Emil Hopland was born June 30, 1949, at Trinity Hospital, Jamestown, ND, the son of Emil and Ruth Emma (Burleson) Hopland. He graduated from Jamestown High School in 1967 and attended Jamestown College until entering the US Army on June 16, 1969. Larry served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged on December 21, 1970. He was united in marriage to Sue Folk on June 6, 1969.
He graduated from North Dakota State School of Science with an electrical degree, and then was the owner of Frank’s Electric in Jamestown until 2013. Larry was a resident at North Dakota Veterans Home, Lisbon for the past 9 ½ years. He was a member of the Elk’s, Eagle’s, and the American Legion. Larry enjoyed playing on a volleyball team with his buddies and loved spending time at their cabin.
Larry is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sue Hopland; daughter, Lisa Hopland; son, Jason (Tricia) Hopland; two grandchildren, Bailey and Kinsley; brother-in-law, Danny Matteson; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sharla Matteson.
Memorial Service – 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Eddy Funeral Home.
Burial – North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
