Harvey Newton, 95, of Jamestown, ND, passed away Friday afternoon, September 2, 2022 at SMP Health – Ave Maria.
Harvey was born February 11, 1927, in Jamestown, the son of Arlo and Cassie (Pulver) Newton. He graduated from Jamestown High School and then traveled with his father to Washington to work in a shipyard. Harvey returned to Jamestown to work as a mechanic for R.M. Stoudt, Ford – a career that spanned 44 years. He and Cecilia Wanzek were united in marriage on November 25, 1954 at St. Mathias Catholic Church, Windsor, ND. They made their home in Jamestown where Harvey enjoyed fixing cars-even in his 90’s, metal detecting, player pianos, watching sports, hanging out at DQ with friends and family, and roller skating. Harvey also loved to go dancing, listening to Jazz, Big Band music, and many trips to Vegas. He was a member of the Elks and the Jamestown Classic Car club for many years.
Harvey is survived by his wife, Cecilia Newton- of 67 years; son, Tom (Jo Lynn) Newton; daughter, Terri (Bill) Koch; son; Tim Newton; 9 grandchildren-Chris, Cassie (Brent), Nick, Cody, Jaimie (Evan), Alexis, Tyler, Zach, and Abigail; and 3 great-grandchildren- Braden, Cecilia, and Octavia. Also, a nephew, Richard (Inta) Wiest and niece Mary (Frank) Simpkins and other family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents- Cassie, and Arlo; brother, Bill; and sister, Arla; and an infant brother, Hebert.
The Newton Family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Ave Maria, who help take care of Harvey on his journey of life.
Harvey, you will always be in our heart, and forever missed. We all love you so much and are very thankful for all you’ve done for us.
Visitation – 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, September 8, 2022 at Eddy Funeral Home.
Funeral Service – 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 9, 2022 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Jamestown.
