Arnold Kuhn, 84, Jamestown, ND died Sat Dec 3, 2022 at SMP Health – Ave Maria in Jamestown.

Arnie was born June 23, 1938 at Dickinson, ND the son of Joseph and Caroline (Mische) Kuhn.  He grew up in Dickinson, attended elementary school and graduated from Dickinson High School; he also attended the Crippled Children’s School in Jamestown (Anne Carlson Center), for a short period of time.  He then attended NDSCS in Wahpeton and Dickinson State College.  His two years at DSC were spent studying psychology and related courses.

It was tough for Arnie to find employment once out of school due to his Cerebral Palsy diagnosis, so Arnie went into business for himself.  He received training and opened Arnie’s Print Shop in Dickinson in 1968.  Arnie also had a passion for writing; in one article written about him he said, “I would rather write than do what I do.”  He was also an advocate for handicapped people in the workforce, saying, “It is common to find employers putting the fact that someone was handicapped far ahead of their ability to do the job.”

Arnie and Mary Barron were married September 18, 1976 in Jamestown at the Basilica of St. James.  They made their home in Jamestown where Arnie took a job at Western Gear, where he worked for 19 years until retiring in 1996. Arnie and Mary were both huge advocates for the handicapped community, helping out where they could.  Following the death of Mary in 2017 he continued to reside at his home in Jamestown.

Arnie is survived by his 2 brothers, Gerald ‘Jerry’, Spirit Lake, ID and Ray, Bath, SD; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; stepfather, Cyril Drury; and 2 sisters, Juanita Mosbrucker and Rosemarie Erhesman.
