Kenneth E. Frey, 88, of Jamestown, ND, passed away Tuesday afternoon, January 10, 2023 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center, Jamestown.

The Great Kenneth E. Frey was born October 11, 1934, in Jamestown, the son of Elmer and Adeline (Koehn) Frey. He attended Bloom School #1 and Roosevelt Elementary, graduating from Jamestown High School in 1952. Kenneth entered the National Guard and served until being discharged as a Sergeant First Class in 1965. He married Janet Bischoff in 1958 and to this union were born three girls. Kenneth later married Judith (Tesky) Pray on March 28, 1980 in Jamestown. They farmed and ranched in Stutsman County until 2013.

Kenneth was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and served on the church council. He was also a member of the Elks, Eagles, VFW, and the American Legion.

Music was the center of his life. If there was a piano nearby he found it. He had a gift of playing songs by ear on many instruments. He was involved with several music groups. He played and sang with Spiritwood Creek Band for over a decade along with other groups such as, The Dakota Sunrise Singers, and the Anybody Who Can Come Band. He enjoyed sharing the gift of music to local nursing homes. Residents could call out any song and he could play it. In addition to his music talent, he created countless metal sculptures that reflected the humor and joy in his life. Every birthday, people waited for their personalized birthday card with a poem written just for them. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Judith Frey; daughters, Kelly (John) Fredricks, Carrie (Scott) Roemmich, and Tammy (Pat) Kelly; step-son, Van (Emiko) Pray; step-daughter, Piper Pray; grandchildren, Kelsey, Kimberly, Sarah, John, Jaclyn, Michael, Nicole, Jayme, Alicia, Joshua and Berit; 9 great grandchildren with one on the way.
