Bismarck, ND (Sept 9, 2013) – Much needed moisture in the area was received, with no severe weather enbedded in thunderstorm activity early Monday morning.
The National Weather Service reported .96 inches of rain, at the Jamestown Weather Station, the CSi Weather Computer in downtown Jamestown registered 1.25 inches.
Valley City reported .71 inches of rain, downtown, and 1.30 inches measured at Baldhill Dam.
Oakes recorded 1.70 inches.
Dazey reported 1.50 inches.
Higher amounts were recorded in Western North Dakota with Hettinger receiving 4.50 inches, Bowman, 2.67 inches in a 70 minute period.
Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Sept 9, 2013) – Starting Monday, September 9, 2013) a segment of Country Club Road (37th Street SE), near the I-94 Business Park, will be closed to traffic so crews can install a water main.
During this time, Country Club Road will be closed from the east side of Highway 281 to the west side of the entrance to the I-94 Business Park.
The closure is expected to last through Friday of this week. People will be able to access businesses in the area from the north.

Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Sept 6, 2013) — Jamestown Police is warning residents regarding a convicted sex offender who has changed his address within the City of Jamestown.
The report says Elvert Deon Mack now resides at 911 4th Street SE, #4.
No vehicle is listed.
Mack is a 35 year old black male 6 feet 3 inches tall, weighing 184 pounds with brown eyes and black hair.
Mack has been assigned a high risk assessment by the North Dakota Risk Level Committee, Office of the Attorney General.
He was convicted of gross sexual imposition on Jan. 19, 2006, in Burleigh County, North Dakota. He forced a juvenile female to engage in sexual intercourse. He was sentenced to five years in prison plus supervised probation.
He was also convicted of indecent exposure June 7, 2001, in Waco, Texas. He was sentenced to 180 days in prison and one year of supervised probation.
Mack is not wanted by police at this time and is currently serving the sentence imposed by the court. This notification is meant for public safety and not to increase fear in the community, nor should this information be used to threaten, assault or intimidate the offender. Attempts to harass, intimidate or threaten these offenders or their families, landlords or employers will be turned over for prosecution.

Jamestown, ND KCSi-T.V. News Sept 6, 2013 – Interstate Engineering asks that drivers and residents be aware of the additional closures on 2nd Ave NE as part of the Jamestown sanitary sewer project.
Starting this past Saturday (September 7, 2013), the closure in place on 2nd Ave NE from 4th St NE to 6th St NE was extended to include the intersection of 2nd Ave NE and 6th St NE.
In addition, today (September 9, 2013) 2nd Ave NE, near the Civic Center parking lot, will close from 2nd St NE to 1st St E. The railroad crossing will be closed as well during this time.
At this time, it is anticipated that this area will be closed for about two weeks.
The Civic Center and Civic Center parking lot can be accessed from the northeast via 4th Ave NE and 3rd St NE.
A section of 3rd Street SE is now closed and a detour is in place. 3rd Street SE has been closed at the intersection of 12th Ave SE, near the railroad tracks. A detour is in place on Railroad Drive E and 7th Ave NE.
At this time, this closure and detour are anticipated to be in place for about a week.

Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Sept 6, 2013) — Jamestown Public School Superintendent, Robert Lech with the Jamestown Public Schools has issued a “Power Announcement.”
He says, “The purpose of this Power Announcement to inform parents that our new safety protocol will go into effect on Monday, September 9, 2013. As you are likely aware based on previous articles with the Jamestown Sun and communications from your child’s school, we have instituted new safety measures to ensure we provide a safe learning environment for your children.
Individuals seeking access to the Jamestown High School will need to enter the main doors and immediately check in at the office.
Individual seeking entry will be asked to follow these steps:
- Press the intercom button to gain attention of receptionist, and turn to face the camera.
- Provide identification as requested
- Once identified, meet the receptionist at the door or hallway to be taken to the office to check in
We do encourage you to please call ahead if your child will be arriving late or leaving early, or if you need to come to the building for any reason. This will help expedite the process of entry.
Again these procedures will go into effect on Monday, September 9th. I greatly appreciate your willingness to work with the school as we increase safety measures and provide the best possible environment for our students.”
Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) — The 6th Annual Jamestown Community Block Party Held August 29, 2013 drew around 4,000 people to downtown Jamestown.
On Friday’s, (Sept 6, 2013) Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Felicia Sargeant said the total included University of Jamestown students.
She said an extra 50 t-shirts were ordered.
She pointed out that 113 booths were on hand, also a record number for the event, 26 more than last year.
She said as the event started, at 5-p.m., there was already a large gathering, before the university came down the hill to join in.
Already for next year, some booth sponsors, have signed up.
Jamestown, ND, (KCSi-T.V. News) — Jamestown Regional Medical Center (JRMC) Auxiliary will host the 10th annual Tea for All Seasons at Trinity Lutheran Church on Wednesday, September 11, 2013, from 2 to 4 pm.
The Co-Chairs of the event were on The Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, on Friday September 6, 2013, Carolyn Exner, ans Marlys Perleberg, talking about the specifics, and noting that this is the 40th Anniversary of the present Auxiliary.
Tea, sandwiches and sweets will be served, along with a silent auction and door prizes. Tickets are $7.00 per person and can be purchased from any JRMC Auxiliary member or at the JRMC Gift Shoppe.
Also at the gathering will be quilts, decorated tables, with themes.

About the JRMC Auxiliary
The present JRMC Auxiliary was formed in 1973 by Dorothy Chouinard, who is still an active member. The 67 member Auxiliary provides services and support for the hospital through financial donations and volunteer services.
The money raised by the Auxiliary provides materials back to the hospital; these have included baby burp cloths, surgery pillows and grab bars.
Also recognized at the Tea will be six charter members of the JRMC Auxiliary, and four volunteer coordinators will be honored.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota’s Department of Human Services is hosting meetings in the state’s eight largest cities later this month to gather information about human service needs and priorities.
Department Executive Director Maggie Anderson says the community meetings are held every two years. She says the feedback is helping in shaping how services are provided and in planning the department’s future budget proposals.
The meetings are in Bismarck and Jamestown on Sept. 24, in Minot and Fargo on Sept. 25, in Williston and Grand Forks on Sept. 26, and in Dickinson and Devils Lake on Sept. 27.
MANDAN, N.D. (AP) – A one-vehicle crash just south of Mandan over the weekend killed one teenager and injured two others.
The Highway Patrol did not immediately identify the 15-year-old Bismarck girl who was killed in the crash on state Highway 1806 about 8:15 a.m. Sunday.
Authorities say the car went into a ditch, struck three big hay bales, continued through a fence and came to rest in a pasture.
The 15-year-old girl who was a passenger died at the scene. The 16-year-old Bismarck girl who was driving and a 15-year-old Rolette boy who was a passenger were taken to Bismarck hospitals with undisclosed injuries.
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) – Authorities have found a body they believe to be that of a northeastern North Dakota farmer who has been missing since his pickup was swept away by floodwaters in April.
Fifty-five-year-old Guy Miller, of Minto, was driving a pickup along a gravel road west of Minto on April 29 when floodwaters washed his vehicle off the road about two miles from the family farm.
Walsh County Sheriff Lauren Wild says a body was found Saturday in the Forest River about a mile west of Minto. The sheriff says authorities are not 100 percent sure, but they are confident the body is that of Miller.
Wild says authorities did not find any identification, but will check dental records to confirm the identity.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Bismarck police are investigating the theft of jewelry from a craft show at a mall.
Authorities say the burglar or burglars gained access to the Gateway Fashion Mall late Saturday or early Sunday by breaking out windows on the roof.
The jewelry that was taken is valued at about $8,000.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A North Dakota man has pleaded guilty in federal court to a sex abuse charge.
Authorities say 43-year-old Steven Whiteman Jr. admitted using force to engage in sexual contact with a woman on Nov. 4, 2011, in the Fort Yates area.
The charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 18 in Bismarck.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) – The men and women of the North Dakota Air National Guard who will lead the transition from manned aircraft to an intelligence group have accepted flags representing the new units in a ceremony held in Fargo.
In Saturday’s ceremony, a flag was furled for the 119th Maintenance Group as the unit’s service ended. A flag was then unfurled for the new 119th Intelligence Group, which includes three squadrons.
Training for the intelligence mission is expected to take one to three years for the new group, which is being established to exploit intelligence to perform target system analysis and target development.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) – A proposed $125 million building in downtown Fargo would be North Dakota’s tallest building.
The Kilbourne Group, owned by Doug Burgum, has been open for years about wanting to build a multi-use tower on the US Bank Plaza. Borgum says he needs an anchor tenant to go ahead with the 23-story building.
The building is planned to be 352 feet tall. That would surpass the height of the state Capitol in Bismarck, which is North Dakota’s tallest building at nearly 242 feet tall.

WASHINGTON (AP) – Syrian President Bashar Assad (bah-SHAR’ AH’-sahd) is warning there will be retaliation against the U. S. for any military strike launched in response to a chemical weapons attack. In an interview broadcast Monday on CBS’ “This Morning,” Assad says, quote, “You should expect everything.”
LONDON (AP) – Secretary of State John Kerry issued a strong rebuttal today to Syrian President Bashar Assad’s denial of the use of chemical weapons. Kerry told a London news conference there is very compelling evidence to the contrary. Kerry says Assad could resolve the crisis by turning “every single bit” of his arsenal over to the international community by the end of the week. He says he doesn’t expect Assad to do so.
MOSCOW (AP) – Russia and Syria are standing shoulder to shoulder today against a U.S. drive for punitive attacks over the Syrian regime’s alleged use of chemical weapons. The foreign ministers of both countries say United Nations inspectors should come back to Syria to continue their probe into the use of chemical weapons, and they again warned Washington against launching an attack.
WASHINGTON (AP) – Congress is back from five weeks off and Syria has been added to a list of prickly issues lawmakers face. Other issues include budget problems and immigration.
NORWALK, Conn. (AP) – Authorities are investigating a ride malfunction in Connecticut after a dozen children were injured when a rotating ride came to a sudden halt, sending the swinging riders careening into each other. One adult was also injured at Norwalk’s Oyster Festival, which wrapped up yesterday.
