MINOT, N.D. (AP Sept 10, 2013) – Storms that pushed through North Dakota early Monday set daily rainfall records in five major cities.

Jamestown, Bismarck, Dickinson, Minot, and Fargo all set records for the date. The National Weather Service says Jamestown recorded .96.

Bismarck had the most rain, with 1.76 inches, breaking a record set 100 years ago.

It’s the wettest year on record on the southern edge of Minot.

Rainfall over the weekend pushed the yearly total at the North Central Research and Extension Center to 27.51 inches, breaking the 1975 record of 26.99 inches. Spokesman Jim Tarasenko says record-keeping at the North Dakota State University center goes back more than a century.

Bismarck, ND  (Sept 9, 2013)  —  Much needed moisture in the area was received, with no severe weather enbedded in thunderstorm activity early Monday morning.

The National Weather Service reported .96 inches of rain, at the Jamestown Weather Station, the CSi Weather Computer in downtown Jamestown registered 1.25 inches.

Valley City reported .71 inches of rain,  downtown, and 1.30 inches measured at Baldhill Dam. 

Oakes  recorded 1.70 inches.

Dazey reported 1.50 inches.

Higher amounts were recorded in Western North Dakota with Hettinger receiving 4.50 inches, Bowman, 2.67 inches in a 70 minute period.
