A Memorial Mass to celebrate the life of Michael G. Stine, 72 of Davenport Iowa, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 27, 2023 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church Davenport with a gathering to follow in Denning Hall. The Mass can be viewed via livestream by visiting Mike’s obituary at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church Facebook Page Burial will be at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Valley City, North Dakota at a later date. Mike died Saturday, February 18, 2023.
Michael Glenn Stine was born on November 27, 1950 in Valley City, North Dakota, a son of Walter T. and E. Joy (Benshoof) Stine. He graduated from Valley City High School in 1968 and graduated from the University of North Dakota with a Business degree. Mike was united in marriage to Carol A. Reed on April 22, 1983 in Colona, Illinois. They shared almost 40 years of marriage.
Mike started out as a sales rep for Genesis speaker company traveling the country and sharing his love of music. He found himself in the Quad Cities where he started Happy Jack’s Waterbeds. He continued in his entrepreneurial career by establishing high-end furniture stores, DayDreams and LifeStyles Furniture.
Mike was a man of many interests. He loved riding motorcycles, boating, water skiing and even acquired his pilot’s license. He also enjoyed scuba diving and snorkeling. His more leisurely activities consisted of listening to music, watching drum corp, and following Formula 1.
Survivors include his wife, Carol, Davenport; children: Michele Stine, Chicago, and Matthew Stine, Davenport; and a sister, Mary Joy Quinn, San Francisco.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Ward Thomas Stine and a sister, Lynne Jacobson. May they rest in peace.
