(NDHP) – >Early Sunday December 24 , a ND Highway Patrol vehicle was struck by a semi near Cleveland.

A trooper was investigating a crash in the median of I-94 involving two commercial motor vehicles, when a third jack-knifed and struck the patrol vehicle. No one was injured in the crash, but the  a 2021 Ford Utility Police Interceptor (Explorer) was damaged in the crash.

NDHP says freshly fallen rain had frozen portions of the roadway, and that the semi’s were all traveling too fast for the conditions.

Eastbound I-94 was closed for about two hours during the incident. The three commercial motor vehicles were left in the ditch because it was unsafe to remove them, the patrol said.

The crash remains under investigation.
