Jamestown – On January 2nd at Jamestown Council meeting, the council approved an emergency declaration that started December 24th. The Declaration covers December 25-27. Also, declaring emergencies were Stutsman County Commission along with Gov Burgum declaring a statewide emergency on December 29.
Burgum plans to request a presidential disaster declaration , to help with costs of the storm, including downed utility poles throughout the state.
The last time an ice storm warning was put out by the National Weather Service was in 2016.
Mayor Heinrich brought forth the declaration to cover the unknown costs due to the ice in the future.
