Bismarck N.D. – Chord Energy notified state agencies on Thursday, Jan. 18, of a water release from a pipeline break located approximately six miles northwest of Alexander.

Initial estimates indicate the break released approximately 3,800 barrels (159,600 gallons) of water,
some of which impacted agricultural and rangelands. Chord reported up to a maximum volume of 35 gallons of additives included in the overall volume.

Personnel from Environmental Quality are inspecting the site, will review samples, and will continue to
monitor the investigation and remediation.

Federal and state laws require operators to report the spillage of any materials that may pollute water, air or soil.
