NDHP – On May 13th approximately 16:10, a semi was north on I-29 through Fargo when the rear semi-trailer axle caught fire. The driver of the semi pulled to the right shoulder of I-29 and used their fire extinguisher in attempt to put the flames out. A State Trooper was on patrol and came across the parked semi that was on fire. The State Trooper used his department issued fire extinguisher to help put out the fire and was successful.
Fargo Fire arrived on scene and deployed water onto the axle area to prevent any further fire. The damage was contained to the axle and tires of the semi-trailer. Traffic was impacted for about 30 minutes as north bound I-29 was down to lane while Fargo Fire was on scene. There were no injuries.
