Leona Morlock, age 94, of Medina, ND passed away on May 31st, 2024 at Sanford Hospital, Bismarck, ND.

Leona was born October 18th, 1929, the daughter of John and Magdalena (Guthmiller) Kahler. Leona was raised on a farm in Kidder Co. north of Pettibone, ND. She attended country school through 8th grade.

Leona married Walter Morlock on November 14th, 1947, and they lived on a farm in Wells Co. until the Spring of 1956. They then moved to a farm 7 miles south of Medina, ND, where they lived until 2000 at which time they retired and moved into Medina. While on the farm, Leona helped with whatever needed to be done…all the usual household chores of cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc.; as well as helping with all the farm animals, milking cows, raising chickens, etc.; and driving the trucks, tractors and raking hay; and helped raise 5 children!

Leona enjoyed quilting, playing pinochle, was active in her church: mission chairperson many years, served on altar guild and taught Sunday School. She was also township clerk-treasurer for several years. When they slowed down with some of the farming, she worked for 8 years at the Medina School during which time she also earned her GED.

She is survived by her 5 children: Sharlene Blaine-Lincoln, NE; Myron (Donna) Morlock-Pierre, SD; Sylvia (Ray) Heupel-Fargo, ND; Jeffrey (Linda) Morlock-Medina, ND; and Brenda Theisen-Grand Forks, ND.

She is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Christopher (Andrea) Blaine; Lance (Mindie) Morlock; Brent Morlock; Katrina (Chad) Menke; Jessica (Kelly) Hart; Lindsey Heupel; Corey Morlock; Kayla Morlock; Matthew (Tanja) Theisen; Anthony Theisen; and Kylie Theisen.

Also surviving are 16 great-grandchildren: Benjamin, William, Dawson & Gavin Blaine; Macie & Madalyn Morlock; Lucas, Evan & Tyler Menke; Leah, Zander & Ashlyn Hart; Isabella, Bronwyn & Aeslin Theisen; and Treytan Theisen.

She also leaves behind special friend and caregiver, Julie Opp, and many other friends and relatives.

Leona was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Morlock, on April 27th, 2005; her parents, John and Magdalena Kahler; her sister, Clara & husband Richard Wetzel; and her sister, Alice & husband Art Wolff.

Funeral Service – 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 6, 2024 at English Lutheran Church, Medina, ND with Pastor Stephanie Gossett officiating.

Visitation – 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 5, 2024 at Eddy Funeral Home.

Prayer Service – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 5 at the funeral home.

Burial – Medina Cemetery, Medina, ND.
