The number six ranked University of Jamestown ACHA D1 Men’s Hockey team beat the number eight ranked University of Mary Marauders on Saturday night. The Jimmies held off Marauder scoring for two periods while scoring four goals themselves, securing a 4-2 win.  

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • Brad Fortin scored early for the Jimmies in the first. Then, Darius Makse (assists Kaelan Shelton and Alek Erichuk) executed on the Jimmies first power play of the night six minutes later. 
  • Marauder cross-checking sent them to the box at 13:47, and Jordan Baranesky (assists, Fortin and Matthew Poole) took advantage of the power play in less than a minute. The Jimmies led 3-0 after the first. 
  • Ray Warrack (assists, Carter Johnson and Alek Erichuk) opened up the second period with a Jimmie goal. Neither team scored the rest of the period, and the Jimmies had a four-goal advantage to enter the final period. 
  • The Marauders scored their first goal three minutes into the third and pulled their goalie with 2:50 left of play, and their second goal came 18 seconds after the goalie pull. Still ahead by two, the Jimmies prevailed.  
  • Brandon Weare had 31 saves for the Jimmies

FOR THE JIMMIES

  • The Jimmies had 36 shots on goal. 
  • The Jimmies were 2-2 on power plays. 

FOR THE MARAUDERS

  • The Marauders had 33 shots on goal. 
  • The Marauders had zero power play opportunities. 
  • Caleb Cross had 20 saves, and Marino Ramirez had 12.
