Jamestown (JPD) Dec 4, 3pm Update: The Jamestown Police Department is releasing the identification of the suspect in the active shooter incident outside of Fred’s Den in the early morning of December 3, 2024. 27-year-old Devin Quinn Fontenot has been identified as the shooter.
Mr. Fontenot refused to comply with the order given by a Jamestown Police Officer to drop his weapon and his actions jeopardized the safety of the officer and others. Mr. Fontenot was shot by the officer and succumbed to the injuries he sustained from gunfire. He has most recently lived in Jamestown. This incident remains under investigation by the ND Bureau of Criminal Investigation and no further information will be released by the Jamestown Police Department at this time

Jamestown -(JPD) – On December 3 at 12:17am, Stutsman County 911 dispatch received a call of a male standing in the parking lot behind Fred’s Den bar who was armed with a gun and a knife. The caller reported the male had been involved in a physical altercation inside the bar and was removed.
Jamestown Police Officers immediately responded to the area. As officers responded, the 911 caller reported the male subject was now shooting at the building. The suspect fired many rounds. The first officer arriving at the scene immediately located the suspect, who was still firing rounds from a rifle, in the parking lot. The officer ordered the suspect to put his weapon down, but the suspect refused and jeopardized the safety of the officers.
The officer shot the male suspect who was incapacitated from being struck with gunfire. Officers rendered immediate first aid to the suspect, and he was transported to Jamestown Regional Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The name of the suspect is not being released, until next of kin can be notified. The Bureau of Criminal Investigation is conducting the investigation into the incident. The officers involved in the incident have been placed on standard administrative leave, while the incident is investigated. The Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office, Jamestown Area Ambulance, and the ND BCI assisted in this incident.
