After her military service, Carole moved to Seattle Washington and worked as an office manager for General Tire and Rubber Company. In 1970, she was invited by a friend to visit a North Dakota farm. She fell in love with the farm and decided to stay. She worked for Anson Rosenbaum as a bookkeeper and farmhand.
