DENVER – The University of North Dakota men’s tennis team saw its historic 2024-25 season come to an end on Saturday, dropping a 4-0 decision to No. 63 Denver in the Summit League Men’s Tennis Championship from Denver, Colo.
The Fighting Hawks fall just short of their first conference title in the Division I era and first for the program since 1989, but finish the season with a school-record 18 victories and became only the third UND athletic program to play for a Summit League title since joining the conference in 2018-19.
NoDak also saw the decorated careers of Leandro Zgraggen and Ange-Kevin Koua come to an end with the duo playing their last doubles match in a Fighting Hawks uniform together. The duo gave one final dominant performance, cruising to a 6-2 victory on the No. 1 court to give UND the first win of the day.
Denver was able to take control of the doubles point in the later stages of two-man play, eventually taking the 1-0 lead with a pair of 6-3 victories on the No. 2 and 3 courts.
In singles action, the top courts provided the advantage for the Pioneers, with the hosts notching a trio of wins from the first, second and third positions to take the overall match victory by a 4-0 score. The Fighting Hawks were battling on the bottom courts, as Ethan Terry grabbed a 6-3 triumph from the No. 5 spot in his first set while Andrew Hayduke II and Jerall Yasin looked poised to stretch their matches to a third set on the No. 4 and 6 courts when play was halted.
North Dakota finishes the season with an 18-5 record.
