VALLEY CITY – The Valley City State University baseball team took down Dakota Wesleyan University 7-2 in their final home game of the season.
 
The Vikings improve to 19-27 overall and remain 3-13 in North Star Athletic Association conference games. Dakota Wesleyan moves to 12-31 overall.
 
VCSU 7, DWU 2
The Vikings scored runs early and often in route to a 7-2 victory over the DWU Tigers. VCSU was led by Kaden Rozdeba who was 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, two RBI’s and two runs. Brady Papineau was 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
 
The Vikings were the first on the scoreboard after scoring one run on a Kaden Rozdeba sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first.
 
Later in the second they scored on a Cam Pero sacrifice fly and a passed ball making it 3-0.
 
In the third Kaden Rozdeba hit a solo home run which was later followed by a one RBI double by Brady Papineau growing the lead to 5-0.
 
In the fifth Cam Pero singled to center field that brought in one more. Alexis Velasco later stole home on a pickoff play giving the Vikings a 7-0 lead.
 
DWU would score on in the eighth and one in the ninth giving the game a score of 9-2 where the game would end.
 
Viking pitcher Anthony Carrasquillo was credited the win moving to 4-5 on the season after pitching two innings yielding no hits, no runs, and three strikeouts. VCSU pitchers combined for 15 strikeouts in nine innings pitched.
 
DWU’s Statton Corey was credited the loss moving to 0-1 on the season.
