Valley City (VCSU) – The Valley City State University Skeet Team wrapped up its inaugural competitive season with an impressive performance in Conference 1, setting the bar for future seasons.

Leading the team was freshman Ty Awender, who topped the individual conference standings with a 237 out of 250 targets hit, earning 1st place overall in the conference. Awender shot three perfect weekly scores of 50/50 during the season and added an additional three 25-straight rounds to his resume while showcasing his precision and consistency.

Fellow team member Kasey Odegaard also delivered a standout performance, placing 3rd overall in the individual standings with a score of 228/250, including one perfect 25-straight round.

Collectively, the VCSU team earned 618 points to finish 2nd in Conference 1, just behind Lindenwood University which claimed the top spot with 633.5 points.

“This season and the decision to add skeet was a huge step forward for our program,” said Odegard, who is also president of the VCSU Trap Club. “Our team showed the skill needed to continue growing in the years ahead. Finishing our first season on the podium is a testament to the dedication and passion we have for the sport.”

Recruitment and preparation for the 2025–2026 VCSU Skeet Team will begin this summer as the program looks to build upon the strong foundation established in its first season of competition.
