CHI Mercy Hospital Valley City has been recognized by the American Heart Association with two Get With The Guidelines® achievement awards for its commitment to providing exceptional care to patients suffering from heart disease and stroke. These awards demonstrate the hospital’s dedication to following the latest evidence-based guidelines, leading to improved patient outcomes, faster recovery times, and reduced hospital readmissions.

Heart disease and stroke remain leading causes of death in the United States, ranking as the No. 1 and No. 5 causes, according to the American Heart Association’s 2025 Statistical Update. Research shows that adherence to established treatment guidelines significantly improves patient recovery. The Get With The Guidelines program empowers hospitals nationwide by translating the expertise of the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association into practical tools and protocols, ensuring patient care aligns with the most current research.

“At CHI Mercy Hospital, we are deeply committed to providing the highest quality care for our patients,” said Alana McClellan, Emergency Room Supervisor and Emergency Preparedness Coordinator at CHI Mercy Hospital. “The Get With The Guidelines program provides us with the framework and resources to streamline our processes and ensure timely, effective treatment for heart attacks and strokes. These awards reflect our team’s dedication to helping people in Valley City and Barnes County live longer, healthier lives.”

This year, CHI Mercy Hospital received the following prestigious awards:

● Coronary Heart Disease STEMI Referring – Gold Plus Award

● Rural Stroke – Gold Award

The Gold Plus designation signifies a high level of achievement and consistent performance in applying Get With The Guidelines protocols.
