On Monday, September 29 at approximately 2:10 p.m., a stationary NDHP Officer noted a 2010 Chrysler Sebring driven by a 42-year-old female of Grand Forks, ND was traveling west on Highway 2 near mile marker 330. The vehicle had an impaired view due to items in the back seat and had only one outside mirror. The vehicle was observed striking the fog line. The Officer initiated a stop, but the vehicle continued to travel westbound at a high rate of speed through Grand Forks, Nelson, and into Ramsey County. Multiple successful spike strip deployments were conducted but the vehicle continued west. Prior to entering Devils Lake, the vehicle was boxed in by law enforcement to slow the vehicle down in order to PIT the vehicle. A PIT (pursuit intervention technique) was conducted, and the vehicle was stopped. The driver was secured with handcuffs and taken to the Grand Forks Correctional Center and charged with fleeing law enforcement, reckless endangerment-extreme indifference, and driving under suspension. The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
