JAMESTOWN, N.D. (Valley News Live) – Police have arrested 31-year-old Kwame Kane who was suspected in a shots-fired investigation in Jamestown Thursday evening.
According to Jamestown Police, 5 shots were fired around 8:40 p.m. on Thursday, October 2, in Downtown Jamestown. Police say no one was hurt in the shooting.
Using witness testimony and video footage, officers were able to identify the suspect and his address.
At 5:08am Friday, Investigators served a search warrant at Kane’s residence. During the search, officers seized a handgun. Kane’s clothing was consistent with witness descriptions.
Kane was arrested on suspicion of reckless endangerment with extreme indifference and discharging a firearm in city limits.

Jamestown JTPD – On October 2, 2025, at 8:40pm, officers of the Jamestown Police Department responded to a call of shots fired in the alley behind the 200 block of 1 Ave S. A witness reported that a black male, approximately 5’8” to 6’ with a thin build, wearing dark colored clothing and a silver chain around his neck, fired approximately five rounds from a handgun. He then left the area walking north. Officers arrived within one minute but were unable to locate the suspect. During a search of the crime scene, officers located five 9mm shell casings. An extensive canvas for video evidence and witnesses was conducted. With witness statements and videos from the multiple locations in the area, officers were able to identify the suspect and his address. Further video evidence confirmed the suspect had returned to his residence and was likely still inside.
In the early hours of October 3rd, investigators obtained a search warrant for the suspect and his residence. The James/Valley Special Operations team was activated and served a search warrant at 402 2nd Ave NW in Jamestown at 5:08am. During the search, officers seized a Ruger 9mm handgun as well as ammunition and clothing consistent with video evidence and witness descriptions. Kwamne Thomas Kane (31) of 402 2nd Ave NW #210 was arrested on suspicion of Reckless Endangerment with Extreme Indifference and Discharging a Firearm in City Limits.
The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
The Jamestown Police Department was assisted by the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Stutsman County Sheriff’s office, Foster County Sheriff’s office and the Jamestown Area Ambulance.
