Robert Miller, age 89, of Eckelson, ND, died Sunday, October 26th at SMP Health-St. Raphael in Valley City.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Friday, October 31st at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sanborn, ND. Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the Lerud Mathias Funeral Home in Valley City and one hour before the services at the church.  A Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday evening at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Interment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.  A livestream of Robert’s service and an online guestbook will be available at www.lerudmathias.com

Robert Lee Miller, the son of Samuel and Rose (Berg) Miller, was born November 4, 1935 on the farm near Eckelson, ND.  Bob, along with his brothers Larry and Maurice “Mo”, attended Anderson School until finishing their education at Eckelson School.  After Bob graduated, he farmed with his father and brother Mo near Eckelson.  In 1976, he married Hulda (Middlestead-Koenig) and gained a wonderful family including two step-daughters Gloria and Carol and six grandchildren.  Bob and Hulda continued to live in Eckelson and farm.  Hulda passed away in 2008.  Bob met Erma Kronebusch and enjoyed his time with her.  Bob moved to Alexandria, MN when Erma entered an assisted living in Alexandria and returned to Eckelson after Erma’s death in 2021 and became a resident of SMP Health-St. Raphael in June where he received wonderful care.  Bob loved to talk farming and old times and was a very competitive whist and pinochle player.

Bob is survived by a daughter, Gloria Signalness, Chaska, MN; grandchildren, Shawn (Margaret) Signalness, Chaska, MN, Dawn (Tony) Blaisdell, Shakopee, MN, Kevin (Jody) Signalness, Danube, MN, Wayne Signalness, Northfield, MN, Blaire (Ginger) Erickson, Glenwood, MN and Pam Erickson, Eckelson, ND; many great and great-great grandchildren; many good friends and neighbors.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Hulda, daughter Carol Erickson, sons-in-laws Vernon Erickson and Roger Signalness, a granddaughter Lydi Erickson and his brothers Larry and Mo.
