Matthew Jon Jerstad was born June 8, 1979 in Grand Forks, ND to proud parents Ken and Lori Jerstad. Matt passed in his home in Jamestown, ND, October 2, 2026, when God granted him so deserved peace after a long mental health journey.

Matt grew up and attended school in Finley and Grand Forks, ND. He was generous and kind. He enjoyed playing cards and was an avid Bison football fan and teammaker for many years. He loved country music and the outdoors-especially fishing and a good camp fire.

Matt was especially proud the day he became an uncle. Matt loved his career of siding homes and was very good at it. He had his dad’s math skills and his mom’s love to laugh.

Matt is survived by his parents Ken and Lori Jerstad of East Grand Forks, MN; sister Heather (Matt) Useldinger of East Grand Forks; three nephews Nolan, Grant and Brady Useldinger; niece Charlotte Useldinger all of East Grand Forks; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents John and Maxine Sveen and Albert and Gurine Jerstad, aunt Nancy Sveen Pearson and uncles Doug Davis, Wayne Nygard and Bob Young.

VISITATION: 2:00 PM until time of prayer service at 3:30 PM, Friday, October 9, 2026 at Dahl Funeral Home, 2029 Central Ave. NW, East Grand Forks, MN 56721.

PRAYER SERVICE: 3:30 Friday, October 9, 2026 also at Dahl Funeral Home.

INURNMENT: Matt will be laid to rest at Sheyenne Valley Cemetery in rural Finley, ND at a later time.
