Valley City, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Oct 30, 2013) — Valley City Police reports that arrest warrants have been issued in connection with recent church burglaries in Valley City.
Warrants for 25 year old Andrew M. Miklas, of Valley City, and 18 year old Nicole Lindermann, of Kathryn, include charges in connection with the burglary of Faith Lutheran Church, in Valley City.
That, according to a Valley City Police Department in a news release Wednesday.
Valley City Police Chief Fred Thompson said, “It was determined that Lindermann waited outside the church in a vehicle while Miklas was inside the church committing the burglary.” The church burglaries are still under investigation and additional arrests are expected.
Miklas’ warrant lists the charges of burglary, a felony, and theft of property, a misdemeanor.
Lindermannn was identified as an accomplice, and her warrant includes a charge for conspiracy to commit burglary, a felony.
During the weekend of Sept. 28 and 29, 2013, multiple churches were burglarized, including Trinity Lutheran Church, Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and the Congregational United Church of Christ. Also that weekend, the Valley City Public Library was also burglarized.
Thompson says in some incidents, the suspects entered through unsecured doors, while in other cases they had forced their way in.
He says, it’s believed that all of the burglaries could be the work of the same suspect or suspects, because of similarities observed at the scenes.
At this time, Miklas and Lindermann are only allegedly connected to the Faith Lutheran burglary.
On October 21, 2013 Faith Lutheran Church was set on fire in an act of arson, which caused about $1 million in damage, which is still under investigation, by Valley City Police, along with federal and state investigators.
Anyone with information on the burglaries, or the church arson, is asked to contact Valley City police at 701-845-3110.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota’s governor is asking propane suppliers to do as much as they can to deliver the fuel to farmers who need it for drying grain.
The gas is in short supply across parts of the Midwest and West because of supply disruptions and abnormally high demand because of the late start to plating and wet harvest.
Gov. Jack Dalrymple’s office says it has contacted Kinder Morgan and CHS to encourage them to mobilize all available supplies of propane.
He and some other governors have signed executive orders extending the time fuel truck drivers can be on the road, so they can legally go farther to pick up propane.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) – A North Dakota couple accused of trying to sell marijuana obtained by a prescription in Washington state have filed an appeal with the state Supreme Court.
Brian Kuruc and Rebecca Larson, of Dickinson, entered conditional guilty pleas earlier this month. The pleas acknowledged possession of pot but denied intent to distribute.
They were arrested in January at a Casselton motel.
The appeal is based on two opinions by East Central District Judge Wickham Corwin, including one memorandum that said the jury could not be told that the marijuana prescription was a valid defense.
Kuruc’s attorney, Mark Friese (FREEZ), says his client hopes the appeal will result in “straightforward application of the law to the facts of his case.”

Senators from North Dakota and Alaska have introduced a bill to establish a national commission to protect Native American children.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota Democratic lawmakers say they will push for legislation to require regulators to publicly report all oil spills and other hazardous leaks.
Regulators last week said they would begin publishing spill information on a website, and were considering how large a spill should trigger a public announcement. They outlined their plans after The Associated Press reported that nearly 300 pipeline spills in the past two years hadn’t been publicly announced.
Top Democrats gave AP a preview of their legislation before unveiling it publicly.
Their push follows a massive pipeline break last month in a wheat field near Tioga that wasn’t publicly announced until AP asked about it.
House Minority Leader Kenton Onstad of Parshall, whose district is in one of the state’s top oil-producing areas, called that a failure.

WASHINGTON (AP) – A spokeswoman for the Department of Health and Human Services says people who use the HeathCare.gov website to register for health insurance exchanges can be confident that their information is “protected by stringent security standards.” Concerns about security on the website are reflected in a government memo showing that administration officials were concerned that a lack of testing posed a potentially “high” security risk. It was granted a temporary security certificate so it could operate.
WASHINGTON (AP) – “You deserve better.” Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius delivered that message to Americans as she apologized for the problems plaguing the government health care website. She told lawmakers on a House panel that she’s the one who should be held responsible for the problems. But she says the situation is improving every day.
WASHINGTON (AP) – The Federal Reserve says the U.S. economy still needs support from the Fed’s low interest-rate policies because it is growing only moderately. The Fed says in a statement after a two-day policy meeting that it will keep buying $85 billion a month in bonds to keep long-term interest rates low and encourage more borrowing and spending.
WASHINGTON (AP) – Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham says it’s the only leverage he has, as he tries to get answers about last year’s attack on a U.S. diplomatic post in Libya. He says he’ll block President Barack Obama’s nominees for Federal Reserve chairman and Homeland Security Department chief, to force the administration to let survivors of the attack talk to Congress. Republicans have criticized the administration over the attack that killed the U.S. ambassador and three other Americans.
LAS VEGAS (AP) – Federal officials say a Las Vegas homeowners association will pay $65,000 to a family after refusing to let the family park an ambulance in the driveway. Officials say the family bought the ambulance because a disabled son needed to be taken to medical appointments while lying down. But the homeowners association banned the family from parking the ambulance in their driveway, because community rules prohibited commercial vehicles. Federal housing officials say homeowners associations need to grant reasonable accommodations to people with disabilities.
