Jamestown (CSi) — Marco Moser has recently been named as Jamestown Regional Medical Center’s (JRMC) first Chief of Anesthesia. This new position has been developed to better communicate with patients and staff.

Moser has been with the anesthesia team at JRMC since June 2012. He received a Master’s of Science degree in Nurse Anesthesia at the University of North Dakota. Marco and his family live in Jamestown.

Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists, or CRNAs, are independent practitioners and—just like a physician – are contracted by the hospital for their services. Because they are each individually licensed the department has restructured to have a Chief of Anesthesia.

Moser’s role as Chief of Anesthesia will be to coordinate departmental duties and serve as a spokesperson for the group when called upon. This change in structure will not have any effect on the normal care of patients; however, the department will be able to better communicate with each other to serve patients.

CRNAs at JRMC provide patients with a wide variety of anesthesia services. They work closely with the surgeons, emergency department providers and family practice doctors to meet the needs of patients. CRNAs make is possible for JRMC to provide surgery by providing surgical anesthesia. They also provide pain relief to mother’s during labor and delivery. In addition to providing pain relief, they also make it possible for JRMC to provide airway management to help patients breathe easier during certain procedures.

LEITH, N.D. (AP) – Authorities have taken two men into custody for carrying guns in a small North Dakota town they want to turn into a white enclave.

Grant County sheriff Steve Bay says residents of Leith (LEETH) should feel at ease at least for now because the two men are in custody.

The sheriff tells the Bismarck Tribune  he is assembling evidence for charges of terrorizing against Craig Cobb, 62, and Kynan Dutton, 29.

The two men moved into Leith to take over the town’s government. City residents say they called for help because the two men were confronting them with guns in a threatening and intimidating manner.

The newspaper reports that Cobb sent a text message before he was taken into custody saying the group started armed patrols because of harassments.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Some small North Dakota towns and community groups are coming together to address a shortage of child care.

And in McClusky, a child care is being partially funded by a job development authority and a merchants group.

Child Care Aware of North Dakota spokeswoman Penny Smith says such efforts are “huge” in the world of child care.

The agency estimates that there are nearly 85,000 children in North Dakota needing child care, and the capacity of licensed child cares is only about 31,000.

Kevin Iverson, who is leading the effort, says no community has ever covered every headstone in the history of the event. But he says last year about 90 percent of the headstones were covered at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, one of the largest efforts in the nation.
