Jamestown (CSi) — The James River Valley Library System board will meet to discuss the location of a new library.
Library Board Chairman, Dale Marks says representatives of the Library Board are attempting to schedule a meeting to speak with representatives of Essentia Health to find out what happened and whether the property’s sale is final.
As reported Tuesday evening on CSiNewsNow.com, during a Jamestown City Council, committee meeting Tuesday, members voted to recommend a MetroPlains development request, to include the present site of the former Essentia Clinic in downtown Jamestown in the city’s Renaissance Zone.
That clears the way for the possibility of property and income tax breaks for the property owners.
The MetroPlains representative said they intend to demolish the building currently on the site to build 24 units of senior and affordable housing on the site.
The meeting is being replayed on CSi Cable 67.
From Tuesday’s Finance and Legal Committee meeting, “Considered the request from Metro Plains for the City Council to consider the inclusion of Block 42, Original Addition, to the City of Jamestown into the Renaissance Zone. Representative Erin Anderson says Metro Plains is seeking state, funding from the North Dakota Housing Finance Agency to construct 24 units of affordable senior housing, at the former Essentia Clinic location in downtown Jamestown, and parking lot. She said an agreement has been reached with Essentia officials for the purchase.
The James River Library System has been looking at the site for a new library. The committee recommends to approve the request for inclusion to the Renaissance Zone. “
