Jamestown (CSi) – The City Council of Jamestown has decided to amend its previous motion, and not take the $25,000 alternate previously approved that included a logo. The water tower will be painted one color, either white or light blue. with no lettering, leaving open future lettering or logos if some group steps forward. A one color paint job is included in the base bid and will result in a savings of approximately $25,000 with the change order. With the final City action, the poll is now closed. This was option 1 in the poll, however, there will not be any lettering, and the color might have sllight hue.
Designs the City considered were:
Design 1 = white tower with black letters, word Jamestown. This was included in base bid for tower, at no additional cost. This is lowest cost option. Selecting this option would reduce the project cost by $25,000 as the alternate would be removed.
Design 2 = Royal Blue tower with white letters, word Jamestown. This alternate was originally selected at a cost of $25,000 and was approved by committee at Feb 20 meeting to do option 2 or 3.
Design 3 = Blue or white tower with Blue Jay logo and words Home of the Blue Jays or Jamestown Blue Jays. Option would cost $25,000. Logo faces Interstate.
Design 4 = Multi-colored design would add an additional $44,000, above the blue designs 2 & 3, and $69,000 over basic white. The words Jamestown North Dakota would face Interstate 94. This design would add additional time.
Design 5 = “Hot Air Balloon” design was proposed by Richard Klose. Wytheville, VA has a “ballon” tower – when called, reportedly paid $150,000 – had fundraiser to pay for it. This design would require a firm quote.
