Replay on CSi TV 10 – The Replay Channel… Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown Public School Board received an update from JSDC’s Holly Miller. and University of Jamestown professor Fadi Fawaz on the ACT Work Ready Communities pilot program.
Stutsman County is one of only 10 counties in the nation that have been accepted into the program, which issues National Career Readiness Certificates to students who pass three one-hour tests in applied mathematics, reading for information and locating information.
Ms. Miller said, “We’re getting close to making this program live in our community and that is when the public school system, the local university and the employers can utilize this program. Right now what we’re working on is a host site, potentially the North Dakota Job Service office will be our first host site. And then we will be bringing forth to the city and county a possible budget for the next three years to carry through and see how this program operates.”
Fawaz said the program could be used by employees who want to improve their resumes, students who choose not to go to college and enter the workforce and unemployed individuals who want to get back to work.
No timeline on when the program will start was given.
In other business, the board heard information and was requested to give feedback on a possible Bring Your Own Device policy which would allow students to use iPads or similar devices to assist them in school or to be used in class projects.
The meeting was recorded by CSi 10 THE REPLAY CHANNEL, with showings to start on Tuesday.
