Jamestown, ND  (KCSi-T.V. News Sept 21, 2012)  —  The Jamestown Police Department is warning residents that alleged scammers may be operating in the area.

Police say the scammers are purportedly going to  homeowners with promises to immediately replace damaged asphalt with material left over from a job the crew is supposedly just finished.

Police have evidence that some of the crew members are from out of state and are  unlicensed and not bonded.

So far the group has been targeting rural areas.

The licensing process for North Dakota and Jamestown requires the posting of a bond so that in the event of substandard work, customers can file a claim against the bond to recover some of their losses.

Without a license or bond, there is no legal guarantee to back the quality of the repair or material, and no way to have faulty work fixed without charge by the contractor.
