Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) — An altercation last Saturday evening (Sept 22, 2012) in the 200 block of Sixth Avenue Southeast, has led the city of Jamestown to an investigation and a possible charge of simple assault, against a former Jamestown College football player.
Jamestown City prosecutor, Leo Ryan’s report says Jamestown Police was called to the area about midnight, where the alleged victim, a 21 year old Jimmie football player had allegedly been assaulted.
The city prosecutor is pursuing a simple assault charge against 19 year old Gavonnah Williams, from Texas.
The charge is a Class B misdemeanor.
Six other males were purportedly involved in the alleged attack.
Those individuals are listed as, 18 year old Darius Threadgill, 19 year old Ronald Gordon , 19 year old Breun Crenshaw, 19 year old Tyrus Kendrick, and 18 year old Terrelle Owens, all of Texas.
They were identified as the attackers by the victim and are former Jamestown College football players.
Jamestown Police Chief, Scott Edinger says the men left Jamestown on Tuesday, and police officers were present when the former football players boarded a bus.
No arrests have been made in the case.
Jamestown College President, Dr. Bob Badal would not comment, on any disciplinary action against students.
No arrests have been made in the case.
A Class B misdemeanor is punishable by 30 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.
Valley City, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) — The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), has released it preliminary results, in the investigation of the airplane crash, that took the life of legendary Kindred, North Dakota aviator, Bob Odegaard.
The report says, Odegaard was piloting his 1945 vintage Corsair aircraft that was about 100 feet above ground level, and then hit the ground in a 10-degree nose down, wings-level attitude.
He was performing a barrel roll, when the crash occurred.
Odegaard was killed September 7, 2012, while practicing for an air show that was to be held the next day, at the Barnes County Municipal Airport.
On Wednesday this week, searchers found a memory card contained in a camera mounted on his plan, in hopes the images might help in the crash investigation, which is continuing, by the Federal Aviation Administration.
Former North Dakota National Guard commander Mike Haugen was a longtime friend of Odegaard’s, and he helped to look for the card.
Haugen says the crash probe will take a long time to finish.
He says it will include an autopsy and an analysis of the plane’s wreckage.
Anyone with photos, is asked to contact the Barnes County Sheriff’s Office.
Photos may include the plane in flight, on the ground or during the crash.
Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) — The annual Jamestown Rotary Club’s “Rose Sale,” is underway.
On Thursday’s (Sept 27, 2012) Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Rotary Club member, Qunicy Backen said, a dozen roses may be purchased from any Jamestown Rotary Club member, or any Jamestown soccer player by October 12, 2012, for a cost of $15 per dozen.
The ticket(s) then redeemed on Saturday October 13, 2012, at either Don’s House of Flowers locations, at 1107 7the Avenue, Southeast, or at the Buffalo Mall.
Backen said the proceeds will go to support Camp Rokiwan, in cooperation with the Jamestown Kiwanis Club, and the “Book It,” program for elementary students.
The proceeds will also go toward capital improvements at the Jamestown High School, Rotary Soccer Field, and the James River Family Y’s, “Strong Kids,” campaign.
WYNDMERE, N.D. (AP) – A North Dakota-based group that provides
planting and harvesting aid to farmers who are hurting is helping
its 200th family.
Staff and volunteers with Farm Rescue are near Wyndmere, in
southeastern North Dakota, harvesting soybeans and corn for Dan and
Rose Dotzenrod.
Dan Dotzenrod broke his neck in June when he fell off a
semi-trailer.
Since its inception seven years ago, Farm Rescue has worked with
farmers in Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota and Montana.
The group aims to help people on small family farms who have
experienced a major injury, illness or natural disaster.
Rose Dotzenrod says it’s amazing that the group has been able to
assist so many families in such a short time.
She calls this week’s harvesting effort “a prayer in motion.”
VALLEY CITY, N.D. (AP) – Students at Valley City State
University have picked more than 37,500 pounds of squash that will
be distributed to food banks.
About 190 students participated in the squash-picking effort
at an area farm on Tuesday.
The activity is part of Valley City State University’s Learning
to Live program that’s required for all first-year-students.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The trial of a North Dakota man who’s
accused of killing his mother and stealing her car has been
canceled after his lawyers scheduled a change-of-plea hearing.
Dean Grenstiner is being held without bond. His hearing will be held
November 13th.
PORTAL, N.D. (AP) – Two Canadian citizens with felony warrants
for their arrest were apprehended as they tried to illegally enter
the United States by hiding in a railroad car.
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection office in Portal announced yesterday that 28-year-old Lorraine Houle and 23-year-old Jean Corriveau were apprehended last week after being detected by a Customs x-ray
station.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Members of an animal activist group say
they’ll protest the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus
Friday before it begins three days of shows in Bismarck.
A spokesman for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals says
the circus mistreats baby elephants as part of teaching them how to
perform tricks. He says the circus uses steel-tipped bullhooks and
electric prods during training.
The circus is performing Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the
Bismarck Civic Center.
The PETA spokesman says the protest will take place at noon today, near the Civic Center.
A circus spokesman says PETA distorts circus animal care and
training methods, and says Ringling Brothers runs a center for
elephant conservation.
He says he hopes families around Bismarck see for themselves how the animals are treated.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Small businesses in 17 North Dakota
counties can now apply for low-interest federal disaster loans to
help them recover from losses due to the drought.
The U.S. Small Business Administration says the loans are
available for small, nonfarm businesses in the primary disaster
counties of Benson, Billings, Eddy and Ramsey.
Businesses also are
eligible in the neighboring counties of Cavalier, Dunn, Foster,
Golden Valley, Griggs, McKenzie, Nelson, Pierce, Slope, Stark,
Towner, Walsh and Wells.
SBA officials say eligibility for the loans covers businesses
directly hurt by the drought and those that have lost money because
they are dependent on farmers and ranchers who lost production
because of the this summer’s drought.
Small businesses, agricultural cooperatives and most nonprofit
organizations may qualify for loans of up to $2 million
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – New entrance standards for North Dakota’s
university students also make it more difficult for schools to
offer tuition discounts to students.
Minot State University students say that’s a big reason why
there is opposition to the changes on their campus. Minot State is
close to the Canadian border, and the school has a large number of
Canadian students.
Those students get charged the same tuition rates as North
Dakota residents. Changes approved by the state Board of Higher
Education will make that more difficult.
Minot State junior Roger Herrmann says Canadian students may
stay home if they have to pay higher tuition at the school.
Minot State president David Fuller says he’s concerned about the
possible impact of the changes.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) – A North Dakota State University project gives
a glimpse of what the state’s largest city looked like 100 years
ago.
The Internet page gives viewers the opportunity to see historic
photographs of Fargo superimposed onto the current Google street
view map.
NDSU researchers have uploaded five collections of photographs
from 1876 to 2009. It includes images from a 1957 tornado that
ravaged a section of north Fargo.

M&T Bank
Stadium erupted in cheers last night after Steratore brought the
captains of the Browns and Ravens together for the coin toss,
turned on his microphone and said, “Good evening men. It’s good to
be back.”
Commissioner Roger Goodell (guh-DEHL’) apologized to the
fans yesterday for putting them through the work stoppage, but he
also played down how much the Green Bay-Seattle game played into
the final agreement.
COLLEGE FOOTBALL…
UNDATED (AP) – Stanford can expect to slide in the AP college
football poll next Monday.
Kasen Williams took a quick screen pass from Keith Price and

trailed 13-3 until running back Bishop Sankey ran for a 61-yard
touchdown late in the third quarter.
It was Washington’s first win over a Top 10 ranked opponent
since its upset of then-No. 3 USC back in 2009.

NHL-LABOR
NEW YORK (AP) – NHL season ticket holders won’t have to pay for
exhibition games next month. The league has canceled the rest of
the preseason, just a day before negotiations were set to resume in
an effort to end the lockout.
Negotiators are expected to spend
tomorrow working on secondary economic issues as opposed to the
core of the dispute, which is how to split more than $3 billion in
annual revenue.
The NHL had already called off all the exhibition games
scheduled in September. The regular season is supposed to begin on
Oct. 11.
In world and national news…
WASHINGTON (AP) – Former President Bill Clinton is going back on
the campaign trail stumping for President Barack Obama.
He’ll appear in New Hampshire Wednesday, the same day Obama and
Republican rival Mitt Romney meet in their first debate.
Romney has a rally in Pennsylvania today along with some fund-raising. Obama also plans fundraising today.
WASHINGTON (AP) – The Food and Drug Administration is launching
