Valley City (CSi) The suspect in the AmericInn motel burglary in Valley City was taken into custody, Wednesday morning.

Valley City Police Chief Fred Thompson says 26-year-old Paul Jacob Myles turned himself into Valley City police.

Anyone with additional information asked to contact the Valley City police department at 845-3110.

Stemming from a search, Monday of an residence, an arrest warrant was issued for Myles who is charged Felony Burglary, Felony Theft of Property and Misdemeanor Possession of Narcotics Paraphernalia.

Myles was identified using surveillance video, and is a former employee at the AmericInn.

Valley City Police are investigating a burglary at the AmericInn, on Winter Show Road in Valley City, early Monday morning.

Police say the burglary occurred before 4:00 a.m.

The male suspect entered the office and left with the business safe and an undetermined amount of money from the front desk till.

The suspect ran out a back door and was last seen in the area of the Bridges Bar and Grill at 264 Wintershow Road, and dropped the safe, which was recovered by Valley City Police.

Jamestown (CSi) The 18^th Annual Stutsman County Relay for Life will be held June 21 & 22, 2014 at University of Jamestown’s Taylor Stadium track, from 6-p.m., to 5-a.m.

On Wednesday’s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Relay for Life spokesperson, Pam Phillips said this is the first time the event will be on Saturday/Sunday, and this year returns to the stadium location.

She said the theme this year is “Super Heroes,” and will include a Super Heroes Costume Competition at 8-p.m., on that Friday…open to adults and children. The winner will be determined by the amount of money collected, donated to Relay for Life.

She pointed out, this year’s Honorary Co-Chairs are Judy Hager, and Ruby Duciaome (de-sewm).

Opening Ceremonies will begin on Friday the 21^st at 6-p.m., with the Knight of Columbus Color Guard, followed by the Survivors and Caregivers Victory Lap, and then the Introduction of Teams, and the start of Team Laps.

The Luminary Ceremony starts at 9:30-p.m., with the presentation of the names.

The Fight Back Ceremony is at 11:30-p.m., and the Sunrise Service and Final Lap occurs at 5-a.m., and participants are welcome to stay and help with clean up at 5:30-a.m.

Other activities will include: a bounce house, activities all night, in addition to the Relay Store, a Silent Auction, Vendors, and teams selling food and mementos.

Jamestown (CSi) Events in connection with this year’s Stutsman County Relay for Life include an event at the World’s Largest Buffalo, June 6, 2014, and the Survivor’s Tea, June 8, 2014.

On Wednesday’s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, the coordinator of the Ribbon Ceremony at the buffalo, Delbert Bossingham said, on June 6^th at 5:30-p.m., participants will encircle the World’s Largest Buffalo with 50 wreaths in a variety of colors, representing various cancers.

The public, cancer survivors, and caregivers are welcome to attend.

Delbert said those in attendance may wear a Relay shirt or a purple shirt.

Barb Togstad made all the wreaths.

Another activity set for Sunday June 8, 2014 is the Survivor’s Tea, set for 2-p.m., at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Jamestown.

The Tea will honor all cancer survivors, their caregivers, and anyone who wants to come and honor these special people.

HELENA, Mont. (AP) – Four gay couples are suing Montana over its constitutional ban on same-sex marriage.  That leaves North Dakota and South Dakota as the only two states with gay marriage bans and no lawsuits seeking to overturn them.   A lawsuit in South Dakota is expected soonState marriage bans have been falling around the country since the U.S. Supreme Court last year struck down part of the federal Defense of Marriage Act.

THOMPSON, N.D. (AP) – An eastern North Dakota mayor is joining other municipal leaders around the country in supporting same-sex marriage, becoming the first mayor in the state to formally join the effort.
 
     Thompson Mayor Karyn Hippen says she’s proud to be the 400th member to join Mayors for the Freedom to Marry, a coalition of same-sex marriage supporting mayors organized by an advocacy group.
 
     Thompson says she has a 23-year-old son who is gay and wants to see him get married someday.

WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) – In a story May 21 about a Williston Park Board member resigning, The Associated Press, relying on information from the Williston Herald, reported erroneously that Executive Director Darin Krueger had been placed on an improvement plan. Park Board President Joel Wilt said that is inaccurate.

     WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) – A member of Williston’s park board who was caught up in a dispute over the suspension of the city parks director has resigned.
 
     The Williston Herald reports that Nick Johnson resigned at the beginning of Tuesday’s board meeting and immediately left the meeting.
 
     A group of residents had called for Johnson and another board member to step down, saying the suspension last month of Executive Director Darin Krueger that was nullified because of a technicality undermined the board’s integrity.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A spill of 100 barrels of brine and 140 barrels of oil has been reported in Crosby.
 
     The North Dakota Department of Health on Wednesday said 90 barrels of brine and 65 barrels of oil have been recovered, but some reached a nearby farm field and shelter belt.
 
     Operator Samson Resources Company reported the release to authorities on Monday. The company says the failure of a valve on a saltwater disposal well led to the spill.
 
     A state inspector is at the site located in northwest North Dakota less than 20 miles from the Canadian border.
 
     A state official says the company is in the process of cleaning the site and is monitoring for evidence of “stressed vegetation.”
 
     Samson Resources is based in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Gov. Jack Dalrymple says the more than 4,000 people at the Williston Basin Petroleum Conference underway in Bismarck are wise for looking to learn about the opportunities being created in North Dakota.
 
     Dalrymple says the oil boom has created unparalleled opportunity and growth in the state. But he also says it’s not easy being the fastest-growing state in the nation and trying to keep pace with development.
 
     The governor says the state is fighting a daily battle against natural gas flaring. He says he welcomes developments to reduce flaring such as the upgraded Hess gas plant in Tioga. But he says more needs to be done.
 
     North Dakota burned off 33 percent of natural gas produced by its wells in March, the latest month for which figures are available.

 BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The head of the biggest railroad hauling North Dakota crude says the future of oil shipments depends on proving that it can be done safely.   
 
     BNSF Executive Chairman Matt Rose spoke on Wednesday at the Williston Basin Petroleum Conference in Bismarck, which has drawn more than 4,000 people for three days of events.
 
     Rose says the railroad is committed to preventing accidents like the Dec. 30 crash outside Casselton that left an ominous cloud over the town and led some residents to evacuate.
 
     He says the railroad has learned from the disaster and has done such things as decreased train speeds in some areas and increased inspections.
 
     Rose says “BNSF believes at the end of the day that every rail accident is preventable.”
 

 BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota’s top energy industry regulator says he expects April’s oil production figures to be over 1 million barrels daily.
 
     State Mineral Resources Director Lynn Helms spoke on Wednesday at the Williston Basin Petroleum Conference in Bismarck, which has drawn more than 4,000 people for three days of events. He says he expects oil production to increase from 977,000 barrels daily in March.
 
     Helms says the Bakken shale formation in North Dakota and Montana is “an exclusive club.” He says that out of the 65,000 oil fields worldwide, only 150 including the Bakken have exceeded 1 billion barrels of oil. North Dakota has generated more than 850 million barrels of Bakken crude, and Montana has produced more than 150 million barrels through the first quarter of this year.

 BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Residents of the Mott-Regent School District in southwestern North Dakota have rejected a $14.5 million bond measure to build a new K-12 school.
 
Preliminary results of Tuesday’s election show 60 percent of the 838 people who voted were opposed to the project. The measure needed 60 percent approval to pass.
 
     The school board will meet next week to canvass the ballots and make the election official.

 ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) – Some farmers are questioning a proposed 170-mile electrical transmission line proposed from southeastern North Dakota to northeastern South Dakota.
 
     People who spoke at a Tuesday night hearing in Aberdeen held by South Dakota’s Public Utilities Commission questioned easement payments, possible land devaluation and the possibility of the power line interfering with GPS equipment on farm machinery.
 
     The  proposed line is a joint venture of Montana-Dakota Utilities and Otter Tail Power. It would stretch from a Big Stone power plant substation near Big Stone City, South Dakota, to a substation near Ellendale, North Dakota. It would cost up to $370 million.
 
     The line needs regulatory approval in both states, though all but about 9 miles would be in South Dakota.

WASHINGTON (AP) – Republicans won’t be alone as they conduct another investigation into the attack on the U.S. diplomatic post in Libya two years ago that killed four Americans. House Democrats have decided to join Republicans on the select committee — even though Democrats believe the probe might be all about politics. The special investigation will mean some high-profile hearings in the months leading up to the midterm elections. 
 
     WASHINGTON (AP) – The Senate has given preliminary approval to President Barack Obama’s pick of David Barron to become a federal appeals court judge. While at the Justice Department, Barron wrote secret documents providing the Obama administration’s legal rationale for using drones to kill American terrorist suspects abroad. His nomination advanced after the administration agreed to stop fighting a court order to release a censored version of one of Barron’s memos.
 
     JOS, Nigeria (AP) – Residents in the central Nigerian city of Jos have been searching along with rescue workers for loved ones missing in the aftermath of yesterday’s twin bombing attack that claimed at least 118 lives. The Islamic militant group that is suspected in the attack, Boko Haram, is also being accused of assaulting three villages in northern Nigeria last night and early today, killing 48 people.
 
     BLYTHE, Calif. (AP) – Authorities say a tractor-trailer that spilled a load of steel pipes onto a southern California highway was the cause of an overnight bus crash near the Arizona border. They say the bus either swerved to avoid the pipes or struck them and overturned, sliding across the shoulder and down an embankment. Four people on the bus were killed and at least seven others were seriously hurt.
