The Jamestown concert is the continuation of a fall road trip as the 50 piece band travels the region of the Red River Valley and beyond.
Charlie pointed out that the RRVVCB has a heritage that dates back to the World War II era, as many veterans were returning home. The band was first known as the Gilbert C. Grafton Post 2, in Fargo, Legion Band. A WWII navy veteran, he has played in big bands, including the Glenn Miller Orchestra and Tex Beneke bands. With two directors, the RRVVCB plays a range of music from ballads to marches and from swing band to Broadway show tunes. There are also some TV theme songs, Dixieland, rock ’n’ roll and occasionally a Latin-dance piece.
