Vote445(CSi) Area voters made their voices heard and elected candidates and decided local measures on Tuesday’s election ballot.

In Jamestown and Stutsman County voters re-elected the incumbent Stutsman County Commissioners, and turned down the library sales tax proposal.

Jamestown voters favored a reduction in the days of sales and hours of detonating fireworks….from 9 to 5 days, and a reduction in the hours of detonation.

While voters in Stutsman County in 2008 approved merging the Alfred Dickey Public Library and Stutsman County Library, Stutsman County voters on Tuesday turned down the opportunity to renovate and expand the downtown library by authorizing a quarter percent sales tax.

The tax was calculated at an average cost to a Stutsman County household of about $33.75 a year.

The votes was 4,223 against, and 3,035 in favor.

Private donations would have been added to the tax collected toward the estimated $9 million project.

Meanwhile Stutsman County has put up for sale the location of the Stutsman County library.

Riffe said when the JRVLS board meets the panel will talk about a plan to move forward with the project.
