Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown City Engineer’s Office informs motorists that beginning Monday, November 10, 2014, south bound traffic will be restricted to one lane in the area of HWY 281 South & 20th St SW for utility repairs. This lane restriction will re-open as soon as repairs have been completed.
Motorists’ should use EXTREME caution in and around this area and use alternate routes.
Jamestown (CSi) The Stutsman County Relay for Life 2015 kickoff is Sunday November 9, 2014 from 3-p.m., to 5-p.m., at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.
On Friday’s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Co-Chairperson Pam Phillips said, Relay for Life was created 30 years ago to help increase awareness of cancer, with a doctor on the west coast who walked a track for 24 hours. Stutsman County has been hosting a relay for life event for the past 19 years.
She pointed out that the kickoff on Sunday is a family event and will include speakers, refreshments entertainment, cancer information and other support groups.
She said The kick-off event is going on to help increase awareness of the event in our community.
Local RFL events proceed throughout the year, go toward local support efforts including gasoline cards, and the Look Good, Feel Good program which provides wigs and other items for cancer patients. A portion also goes toward American Cancer Society programs and support.

An event is planned for May 1, 2015, called Paint the town Purple, with more information coming.
On our show, Pam said the 2015 Stutsman County Relay for Life will be held on June 5 and 6.
The event starts on Friday June 5, at 2-p.m., at the University of Jamestown Taylor Stadium and Rollie Greeno Field, track, and goes until 2-a.m., on June 6.
The opening ceremony will be at 6-p.m., with the lighting of the luminaries at 9:30-p.m.
The 2015 RFL goal is to raise $125,000 and have at least 35 teams.
DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (AP) – The floodwater diversion outlets on the west and east ends of Devils Lake are being shut down for the year.
State Engineer Todd Sando says officials plan to winterize the outlets this weekend with forecasts calling for highs in the 20s next week.
Sando says Devils Lake is one of the few lakes in the state that saw its level drop this year, despite a late start to the season.
Sando says the lake is now about two and a half feet lower than the record elevation that was recorded in the summer of 2011.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Fargo police are investigating the robbery of a fast food restaurant.
Authorities say an employee opening a Taco John’s about 6 a.m. Friday was met at the front door by a masked woman who threatened her and demanded to be let into the restaurant. She was followed by a masked male accomplice.
The pair fled on foot with an undetermined amount of money.
The robbers did not display a weapon. The clerk was not hurt.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The entire state Board of Higher Education will take part in the search for a new chancellor for the North Dakota University System.
Board members on Thursday opted not to appoint a smaller search committee.
The move came after voters on Tuesday rejected a ballot measure that would have abolished the part-time, eight-member Higher Ed board in favor of a full-time, three-member commission appointed by the governor.
Former Bismarck State College President Larry Skogen has been serving as interim chancellor.
The search for a permanent chancellor is expected to cost about $120,000. The board hopes to name a new leader by mid-May.
DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) – Construction is wrapping up on an oil refinery near Dickinson, and the facility expects to start producing fuel next month.
Bismarck-based MDU Resources Group Inc. and Indianapolis-based Calumet Specialty Products Partners are building the $350 million Dakota Prairie Refinery. Construction started in March 2013.
The refinery will be the first built in North Dakota in more than three decades. It will help meet the need for diesel fuel in the booming oil patch.
Plant manager Dave Podratz says the refinery will have the best-available emissions equipment and will be one of the most efficient refineries in the country.
It will employ about 90 full-time workers.

WASHINGTON (AP) – During his final two years in office, President Barack Obama says, he’ll judge ideas not by whether they come from Democrats or Republicans — but by “whether or not they work.” The pledge to put aside party differences came as Obama had lunch at the White House with 16 top lawmakers from both parties, three days after the Republicans won control of the Senate and padded their House majority.
WASHINGTON (AP) – The Supreme Court will take another look at the health care law. This time, the justices will only be considering a challenge to the subsidies that help millions of low- and middle-income people afford their health insurance premiums. They’ll review a federal appeals court ruling that allowed health-insurance tax credits for consumers in all 50 states. Opponents argue that most of the subsidies are illegal.
WASHINGTON (AP) – Five U.S. military bases have been chosen as the spots where U.S. troops will be housed and isolated for 21 days after returning from Ebola-response missions in Africa. U.S. officials say the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff has signed a plan listing the five bases. They are Fort Hood and Fort Bliss in Texas, Fort Bragg in North Carolina, Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington state and Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Virginia. The U.S. also hopes to use bases in Italy and Germany for troops based in that region. The 21-day isolation period is required for service members but voluntary for Pentagon civilians.
DALLAS (AP) – The Ebola crisis has come to an end in Dallas. The last of the 177 people who were being monitored for symptoms will be cleared at midnight tonight. They’re the last of the people who came in contact with Thomas Duncan, who died from the disease, or the two nurses who contracted the virus.
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (AP) – Women may soon be allowed to drive in Saudi Arabia — but no makeup allowed. A Saudi official says the kingdom’s advisory council has recommended to the government for the first time the partial lifting of the ban on women driving, but with conditions. It would only apply to women over 30. They could only drive during the day. And they can’t wear makeup while driving.
