The donation will be used to provide compassionate end-of-life care to those in Valley City and surrounding communities.

This year’s ride a attracted approximately 200 motorcycle riders from the surrounding states.

The event also included an appearance from the Vikings cheerleaders, a breakfast served by Relay for Life, a raffle, a silent auction and supper at the VFW, and street dance.

The raffle’s grand prize, a 2012 Harley Davidson Heritage Classic, was won by a woman who has a son with cancer.

Event founder, Rocky Gabel says, “We had another successful year. The proceeds of the event stay local, and the community has really rallied to make it a success.”

Next year’s event is scheduled for Saturday, July 27, 2013.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A Bismarck man ac DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota’s state engineer says repairs have been completed at the east-end floodwater diversion outlet on Devils Lake.
Officials on Monday were getting outlet operations restarted. He says officials are confident they can ramp up to the outlet’s maximum flow soon.

The east-end outlet came online earlier this summer, to
complement a west-end outlet. A pipeline leak earlier this month
led to ground erosion and pipe settling at the east-end structure.
Sando says the repairs were covered under warranty.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A Bismarck man accused of trying to lure a
13-year-old girl online for sex has pleaded not guilty.
28-year-old Aaron Masser pleaded not guilty to the felony charge of
luring a minor during a court hearing Monday.
Court documents say Masser talked with a girl he believed to be
13 years old through Facebook, via text messages and on Yahoo
Messenger.

Authorities say Masser asked the girl to meet him at a
Bismarck park, but when he arrived, he was met by investigators
instead.
Masser reportedly told officers that he may have had sex with
the girl if she had been willing.
Masser’s next court hearing is scheduled for Nov. 26.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) – A North Dakota man who was driving
drunk when he collided head-on with a vehicle and killed another
man has been sentenced to three years in prison.
Douglas Baker of St. Michael, also known as Douglas Lawrence,
pleaded guilty in federal court in July to involuntary
manslaughter.
Authorities say the September 2011 collision on the Spirit Lake
Indian Reservation killed Dana Grow, of Grand Forks.

Authorities say Baker’s blood-alcohol concentration was nearly three times the legal limit for driving.
U.S. Attorney Timothy Purdon says Baker was given credit for a
year he has spent in tribal custody.
Baker also was ordered to pay a total of nearly $23,500 in
restitution to Grow’s widow, medical insurer Blue Cross Blue Shield
and vehicle insurer Geico Direct.

has doled out another $1.1 million to support new housing for law
officers in the western oil patch.

earmarked for the Law Enforcement Pilot Program. The money comes
from North Dakota’s share of a multistate lawsuit settlement with
U.S. mortgage lenders.

from around the country. The Law Enforcement Pilot Program helped
housing projects in Belfield, Crosby, Dickinson, Killdeer, Minot,

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) – Former American Indian Movement
activist and actor Russell Means has died.
Oglala Sioux Tribe spokeswoman Donna Salomon says Means died
Monday morning at his ranch in Porcupine, S.D. Means was 72.
Means helped lead the 1973 uprising at Wounded Knee, reveled in
stirring up attention and appeared in Hollywood films, including
“The Last of the Mohicans.”
The Wanblee native grew up in the San Francisco area. He
developed inoperable throat cancer and eschewed mainstream medical
treatments for traditional American Indian and alternative
remedies.
AIM was founded in the late 1960s to protest the U.S.
government’s treatment of Native Americans and demand the
government honor its treaties with Indian tribes.

It was oft embroiled in controversy, partly because of the organization’s
alleged involvement in the 1975 murder of Annie Mae Aquash.
