Jamestown (CSi) The Coborn’s grocery store in Jamestown is now a Cash Wise Foods.
The Store had been closed to convert to Cash Wise December 8-10, 2014, and reopened as Cash Wise at 6-a.m., today. The store hours has the same: open from 6 a.m. to midnight.
During the down time this week the store was updated with Cash Wise décor.
Officials say that prices arelowered on thousands of items throughout the store.
The main difference between Cash Wise and Coborn’s is that the top focus for Cash Wise is low prices, which result from operating efficiencies.
Coborn’s Store Manager Kyle Wensmann, says “Our customers have been asking for a Cash Wise store in Jamestown and we’re responding to them by converting our Coborn’s store into a Cash Wise. Coborn’s Inc. has Cash Wise stores in several other markets in North Dakota, so by converting our store, we will be able to create more efficiencies that will allow us to provide our customers with great food at much lower prices.”
All employees are reportedly keeping their positions; no jobs lost and wages are not be impacted by this conversion, while some duties will be adjusted.
Cash Wise Foods stores have been in operation in Fargo/Moorhead and Bismarck for 26 years.
Jamestown (CSi) Sanford Clinic in Jamestown, is moving the location of their Walk-In Clinic. Beginning Thursday, December 11, 2014, all walk-in patients will be seen at the Sanford Second Avenue Clinic, in the Jamestown Business Center, 300 2nd Ave NE in Jamestown. Hours for Walk-In Clinic are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday and 9:00 am to noon on Saturday.
On Monday’s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Sanford Jamestown Clinic Director, John Lillijord said the Sanford Second Avenue Clinic has recently completed a 8000 square foot addition. Further renovations will continue in the near future. In addition to the Walk-In Clinic; Dr. David Muhs and Dr. Sarah Schatz will be moving their practices to the Second Avenue Clinic beginning December 11th. Any patients scheduled to see Dr. Muhs or Dr. Schatz on December 11th or later should report to the Second Avenue Clinic for their appointment.
Fargo (CSi) Members of the Jamestown Fire Department and Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office used the remotely operated vehicle, (ROV), to conduct an underwater search of the Sheyenne River, for a snowmobile driver who went through the Sheyenne River’s ice on December 2nd.
West Fargo authorities said 34 year Cole Schwindt, of Moorhead, drove his snowmobile into the river that evening.
JFD Training Officer Sheldon Mohr, says the ROV was used as part of the underwater search on Friday, Saturday, Monday and Tuesday. with about about 32 hours in the water.
Mohr said the Jamestown/Stutsman County units are working with personnel from Valley Water Rescue and the West Fargo Police Department in the search.
Jamestown (CSi) Jamestown Salvation Army Lt. Mitch Brecto says donations to the red kettle, will get a boost.
He says, an anonymous donor is going to match donations up to $4,000 for the day,
He points out that this yea’s campaign has been lagging this year, in donations, and it has “considerable ways to go” to get from the current $52,000 to the end-of-the-month goal of $156,000.
Last year the campaign was able to reach its goal of $147,000 due to a $25,000 match from an anonymous donor.
Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown Stutsman Development Corporation (JSDC) has moved its offices, but not far.
JSDC is still occupying space at the Center for Economic Development, in downtown Jamestown, but is in the space formerly occupied by the South Center Dakota Regional Council.
SCDRC is now located at Legacy Center in downtown Jamestown.

Jamestown (CSi) Jamestown Regional Medical Center Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of Clinical Services, Trisha Jungels, has been selected by the Prairie Business Magazine as a top business professional under the age of 40.
JRMC President and CEO, K.C. DeBoer, says “We are excited for Trisha to receive this recognition for she is an outstanding leader in our organization and in the community.”
The 40 under 40 list was included in the Prairie Business Magazine’s December 2014 issue, released on November 28, 2014.
In the Prairie Business Magazine publication, Kris Bevill said, “Trisha has more than a decade of professional nursing experience and has provided care to patients in a variety of settings, from medical-surgical environments to home health. She became chief nursing officer and vice president of clinical services at JRMC in 2013 and has since proven herself to be an example for others to follow in developing relationships with peers, patients and the community.”
Trisha was also the recipient of the Outstanding Rural Health Professional award from the UND Center for Rural Health.

BELFIELD, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation is looking into a reported shooting in Belfield.
City resident Ken Newton says a man who was living in his home and working in the area was injured in a shooting on his property, and Newton’s wife says the man was taken to a hospital in Bismarck.
Belfield police declined comment, but a BCI spokeswoman confirmed an investigation.
HANKINSON, N.D. (AP) – Richland County authorities are investigating a reported home invasion robbery in Hankinson. The two homeowners reported that three armed suspects entered their home shortly before 7 a.m. Sunday, assaulted them and robbed them. Authorities say the two men were treated at the scene and refused further medical attention.
WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) – Prosecutors have filed attempted murder and drug charges against a Washington state man after a weekend stabbing at a Williston hotel. Authorities allege that 25-year-old Joshua Floyd stabbed his roommate during a fight over money. Defense attorney Nicole Foster declined comment to the Associated Press yesterday. KXMC-TV reports Floydwas being held on $100,000 bond Wednesday.
ARGUSVILLE, N.D. (AP) – Cass County authorities have concluded that a shooting in rural Argusville was accidental. Deputies responded to a call about the shooting at a home late Sunday afternoon. KFGO radio reports the sheriff’s office has concluded that the 38-year-old man who was wounded shot himself by accident. The man was taken to a Fargo hospital.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) – A North Dakota man who served time in prison for breaking into a post office on the Spirit Lake Indian Reservation is back in custody for failing to report to a halfway house.
Robert Redroad Jr., of St. Michael, is charged in federal court with escape from custody. Authorities say Redroad failed to show up at the Lake Region Law Enforcement Center in Devils Lake in October after he was released from a federal prison in West Virginia.
Redroad was arrested in Fort Totten on Nov. 7.
Redroad was sentenced in April 2013 to 30 months in prison on charges of burglary of a post office and conspiracy to commit bank fraud. Authorities say he stole a U.S Treasury check from the post office in Tokio.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Police in North Dakota are probing allegations that someone has embezzled thousands of dollars from a high school dance team.
Police in Bismarck say someone appears to have pocketed more than $10,000 from the Bismarck High School Demonettes Dance Team.
Lieutenant Steve Scheuer says the misappropriation of funds happened between April 1st and September 1st. He says the pool of potential suspects includes anyone with access to the funds.
Bismarck Public Schools Superintendent Tamara Uselman says the money was taken from a booster club account tied to the dance team.
Authorities have asked the team to audit its account in order to accurately know how much money was taken.
MINOT, N.D. (AP) – Police in northern North Dakota are warning of a telephone scam from callers claiming to be from the Internal Revenue Service.
The Minot Police Department says people are told they owe money to the IRS. The con artists are threatening residents with arrest and other fines.
Police say the IRS never calls to demand immediate payment nor does the agency call about taxes owed without first having mailed a bill.
Authorities add that the IRS also does not ask for credit or debit card numbers over the phone.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota regulators say a 400-barrel oil spill has been contained at a well site about a mile north of Williston.
Regulators say the Norwegian energy company Statoil reported the spill on Monday. Officials say the oil was contained and recovered at the site.
Officials say a failed valve caused the spill.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) – The leader of a global professional support services company that has delivery centers in major cities such as Mumbai, London and New York says many customers prefer outsourcing their business to Fargo.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Wednesday for Integreon’s new facility in Fargo. The 34,000-square-foot building will be home to 340 employees, with space for 900.
Integreon CEO Bob Gogel says that while the company’s clients are major multinationals, many of them prefer to deal with smaller centers that have a “human touch.”
The new facility features a training center with advanced computers, virtual meeting spaces with large video monitors, and a cafeteria. A day care center is located next door.
The company has been in Fargo since 2001, but hasn’t had its own facility until now.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – An electric cooperative in North Dakota is cutting its 6,000 members bills after a good business year.
Mountrail-Williams Electric Cooperative is paying up to $286 worth of members’ electric bills for three months. The first discount is reflected in the statements that were mailed at the end of November.

Jamestown (CSi) University of Jamestown’s soccer coach Thomas Nienhaus announces the signing of Kyle Fenske, Savage, MN who will join the Jimmies in the 2015-2016 season.
Fenske will be a 2015 graduate of Prior Lake High School. He played soccer all four years of his high school career receiving an All-Conference Award his junior and senior years, All-State First Team and Star Tribune All-Metro First Team as a senior, and was captain of the soccer team his senior year. His team was section runner-up in 2013 and South Suburban Conference Champs in 2014.
Coach Nienhaus says of Fenske’s signing, “Kyle is our first commit and we couldn’t be more excited. He is technical and versatile, two things we covet in our players. I’m looking forward to working with him over the next four years.”Fenske plans to major in Physical Therapy while at the University of Jamestown.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A task force working on a plan for coming up with a new University of North Dakota nickname is holding a public meeting in the Denver area.
The meeting tonight meeting in the suburb of Englewood is being hosted by UND associate vice president Sandra Mitchell and task force member Karl Goehring, who helped lead UND to a national hockey title in 2000.
Sixty-eight percent of North Dakota residents voted in 2012 to drop the Fighting Sioux nickname that was deemed “hostile and abusive” by the NCAA before it was retired. The Legislature enacted a three-year moratorium on a new moniker.
The task force is expected to submit recommendations for a potential nickname selection process to UND President Robert Kelley by the end of the year.
BILLINGS, Montana (AP) – A legislative rider in Congress’ $1.1 trillion spending bill would delay protections for a wide-ranging Western bird that’s been on a collision course with the oil and gas industry.
The Obama administration faced a September 2015 deadline to propose protections for greater sage grouse.
But the spending package agreed to late Tuesday by Democratic and Republican leaders prevents the administration from spending any money next year on rules to protect the ground-dwelling bird.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – Andre Hollins scored 24 points as Minnesota defeated Southern 85-57 last night. Mo Walker and Carlos Morris each scored 11 points while DeAndre Mathieu added 10 points and five assists for the Gophers. Adrian Rodgers led the Jaguars with 18 points.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – Andrew Wiggins had 23 points as the Minnesota Timberwolves stunned the Portland Trail Blazers with a 90-82 victory last night. Corey Brewer had 19 points eight rebounds, five assists and five steals for the Timberwolves. They outrebounded Portland 56-38 to overcome four key players being out with injuries.
The Dallas Mavericks got 26 points from Monta Ellis in their 112-107 win over New Orleans.
The Denver Nuggets routed Miami 102-82. Wilson Chandler led the Nuggets with 17. Chris Bosh had 14 points to lead Miami, which has dropped four of its last five on the road after starting the season 5-2 away from home.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – A window film designed by 3M could wind up helping prevent bird deaths from the Minnesota Vikings’ new glass-heavy stadium. Bird lovers have asked the team to change out clear glass with “fritted” glass they say is safer for birds. Vice President Lester Bagley says the team is open to testing the clear film.

NEW YORK (AP) – The NHL has suspended Minnesota Wild defenseman Marco Scandella for two games for a hit to the head of New York Islanders forward Brock Nelson. Scandella struck Nelson with 2:28 left in the game and was given a minor penalty for an illegal check to the head. Scandella will miss games at San Jose and Arizona this week and lose more than $11,000 in salary.

MADISON, Wis. (AP)- Wisconsin says it hopes to hire a new football coach by New Year’s Day following Gary Andersen’s departure for Oregon State. Andersen replaces Mike Riley, who left the Pac-12’s Beavers to accept the head coaching job at Nebraska after the dismissal of Bo Pelini.
Wisconsin running back and Heisman Trophy finalist Melvin Gordon is skipping his senior season to enter the NFL draft.

(AP) – Carolina Panthers’ quarterback Cam Newton has been discharged from the hospital following a two-car crash on Tuesday that left the two-time Pro Bowl QB with two fractures in his lower back. Newton has been ruled out of Sunday’s game against Tampa Bay. Derek Anderson will start instead.
IRVING, Texas (AP) – The NFL has a new personal conduct policy. Commissioner Roger Goodell (guh-DEHL’) announced the changes from the owner’s meetings in Irving, Texas. A special counsel for investigations and conduct will oversee initial discipline. The commissioner also may appoint a panel of independent experts to participate in deciding an appeal. Under the new plan Goodell will retain authority to rule on appeals.
MLB-WINTER MEETINGS
SAN DIEGO (AP) – The Chicago Cubs improved their rotation by coming to agreement on a multi-year contract with free agent Jon Lester. The six-year pact is worth $155 million and averages out to $25.8 million per season, second highest for a pitcher behind the deal Clayton Kershaw agreed to last year with the Dodgers.
Lester began last season with the Red Sox but was traded mid-season to the Athletics. He finished with a career-best earned run average of 2.46, a record of 16-11 and 220 strikeouts.
Closer David Robertson and the Chicago White Sox have finalized a $46 million, four-year contract.

HONG KONG (AP) – Hong Kong pro-democracy activists have vowed to return but offered no resistance as police carted them away today while other officers dismantled barriers and tents at a protest camp that had blocked streets for two and a half months. The student-led demonstrators have been protesting Beijing’s restrictions on the first election for Hong Kong’s leader. Today’s operation appeared peaceful.
LONDON (AP) – The protests over police killings of unarmed suspects in the United States have spread to Britain. British police arrested 76 people today at a “die in” at a London shopping mall. Demonstrators gathered inside the Westfield shopping center, lying on the floor and shouting “I can’t breathe,” a reference to the final words of Eric Garner. Police say a small group assaulted security staff and damaged property. Garner died in New York in July as he was arrested for selling untaxed cigarettes.
PARIS (AP) – France’s Senate is trying to apply a little pressure to efforts toward a lasting Mideast peace. Lawmakers narrowly approved a resolution asking the government to recognize a Palestinian state, in hopes that could be a tool in negotiations. Meanwhile, Israel has slammed the decision of the Irish parliament to adopt a non-binding resolution supporting an independent Palestinian state.
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – A storm expected to be one of the worst in several years is pushing into parts of the West Coast including Northern California. Forecasters are warning of possible debris slides, especially in areas affected by this year’s intense and widespread wildfires that stripped away vegetation anchoring the soil. Some schools have canceled classes and communities have been preparing for emergencies.
SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (AP) – It’s nothing to crow about for residents of the western Ohio city of Springfield. Thousands of crows roosting at night are leaving a mess and some people are comparing the invasion to the Alfred Hitchcock movie “The Birds” as they work to drive away the flocks. Downtown businesses and city workers are using noise devices and laser pointers among other deterrents.
