Update…Nov 13, 2012….Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) — An investigation into the fire last Friday (Nov 9, 2012) morning have authorities theorizing that arson was the cause.
The fire was reported at 6:49 a.m. at 616 Second Avenue, Northwest with the Jamestown City Fire Department on the scene until about 11:30-a.m. Three injuries were reported. A firefighter injured a knee, the other aggravated a previous shoulder injury and a police officer slipped on the ice.
Officials believe the fire had about a two hour head start, before fire fighters arrived on the scene. The blaze flared up Friday afternoon, and evening and again early Saturday morning. Jamestown Police and the City Fire Department are investigating, with evidence pointing to arson. There is a person of interest in the case, but no arrests have yet been made.
The house was unoccupied at the time of the fire, with the damage estimate to the structure and contents at about $140,000. Jamestown City Fire Chief Jim Reuther, Jamestown Police Chief Scott Edinger and Detective Tom Nagel are heading the investigation.

City, Rural Fight 2 Fires in Jamestown, Pager Problem
Update Friday afternoon…
Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News (Nov 9, 2012) — The Jamestown City and Rural Fire departments were called out around 6:49 a.m. Friday… (Nov 9, 2012) to 616 2nd Avenue, Northwest, where a house was involved in flames.
When the fire units arrived the structure was fully involved inflames were shooting through the roof of the older two story house.
Both floors of the home were extensively damaged.
City Fire Chief Jim Reuther said two fire fighters were injured. One had a knee injury and was treated at a clinic.
Another fire fighter received a strained shoulder, and one city police officer fell on the ice. The extent of his injury was not known.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Joint Task Force of the City Fire Department, and the Jamestown Police Department.
Chief Reuther says the City Fire Department cleared the scene about 11:20 a.m.
While on scene, there the firefighters got a second fire call for a kitchen fire at 1108 6th Aveue Southeast at about 8:26-a.m.
The Rural Fire Department fire fighters along with a city fire department unit hopped in their trucks that were on the scene at the northwest house fire, and raced across town to that call, along with a city fire unit.
The fire caused damage to the kitchen.
Fire fighters pulled out the stove and refrigerator from the house, that were extensively scortched.
An occupant of the home suffered a burn and an ambulance was called to the scene for treatment.
Chief Reuther praised the Jamestown Rural Fire Department for their mutual aid as the pager unit at the Law Enforcement Center malfunctioned, and the City Fire Fighters were not able to be notified, that way.
Instead each City Fire Fighter had to be called by phone for the notification to respond to the first fire.
The Jamestown Rural Fire Department was notified by pager, and were able to arrive on the scene more quickly, as the City Fire Fighters then began to arrive.
The two fire departments were able to communicate with each other during the two fires, by patching into state radio.
Chief Reuther says the pager equipment was being tested through the day on Friday. As of Friday afternoon the pager equipment was still not operational, with the City Fire Department.
At about 4:30-p.m. Friday, the City Fire Department was called to a rekindle at the 616 2nd Avenue, Northwest location.
Deputy Fire Chief Jerry Kainz says, two pumper trucks and an equipment truck returned to knock down hot spots at the scene.
Friday evening at 10:30 25 city fire fighters respnded back to 616 Second Avenue, Northwest. where hot spots flared up again.

Reports from the scene said when the fire units arrived flames were shooting through the roof of the older two story house. Both floors of the home were extensively damaged. No reports of injuries.
While on the scene, there, a second fire call came in for a kitchen fire at 1108 6th Aveue Southeast at about 8:30-a.m.
Rural Fire Department fire fighters on the scene at the northwest house fire responded to that call.
The fire caused damage to the kitchen. The stove and refrigerator were taken out of the house.
