Bismarck (CSi) Jamestown airline boardings for March of 2015 were 727. In March of 2014 Jamestown was without airline service. In March of 2013, boardings in Jamestown with Great Lakes Airlines was 227.
Through March this year, Jamestown boardings were 2,109.
Devils Lake in March this year had boarding’s of 403. No airline service there in March of 2014, with the March 2013 numbers, in affiliation with Great Lakes Airlines at 154.
Jamestown, Bismarck, and Devils Lake, all experienced a slight rise in boardings from February to March.
Most North Dakota airports showed a slight decline in boardings in March this year, compared to the previous month.
Jamestown (CSi) The Mrs. North Dakota ~ America Pageant Weekend will be held on April 30th – May 2nd, 2015.
Mary Schwartzkopf, Mrs. North Dakota-America 2011 who is the state director will be leading the event with her staff during the pageant weekend. The Delegates are coming from across the state. Mrs. Benson County, Mrs. Fargo- Mrs. Jamestown, Mrs. Medora, Mrs. South Fargo, and Mrs. West Fargo. There is a flyer that shows the current Local Titleholders.

Entertainment will be performed by Alexis Barnik from Jamestown. This year’s Pageant Guest Visitor will be Mrs. Vermont 2014, Sera Anderson. She will be joining Eliza, Mrs. NDA 2014 to participate in the festivities here in Jamestown during the pageant weekend.
The 2015 Mrs. America Pageant is currently undergoing plans to be held in Russia. The State Winners from every state will compete in Russia, for Mrs. America 2015 in Moscow and Sevastopol this September. Keep watching the Mrs. America website for future developments the “First Runner-up Delegates” from every state may be involved in this year.
The Mrs. North Dakota ~ America Pageant is the official state preliminary to the national event. It is also a stage from which women in North Dakota can promote family values, women causes and local charities. Mrs. ND- America state pageant is for married women that are at least 18 years of age – 60 + . She must be legally married at the time of competition, a North Dakota resident and a U.S. citizen.

WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) – A Williston man who died while kayaking on Lake Sakakawea was a decorated soldier who served two tours in Iraq.
Thirty-five-year-old John Drange (DRAN’-gee) was reported missing Thursday morning, and searchers found his body later that day. Authorities say no foul play is suspected in his death.
Drange enlisted in the Army in 1998 and served two tours in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He joined the National Guard in 2008. He earned numerous medals throughout his military career.
State Guard commander Maj. Gen. Dave Sprynczynatyk (sprihn-suh-NAT’-ihk) issued a statement saluting Drange’s service and offering the Guard’s condolences to his family.
MINOT, N.D. (AP) – The Highway Patrol has identified a Nebraska man who died in a crash in northern North Dakota.
Authorities say 18-year-old Trenton Tiller, of Elkhorn, Nebraska, was killed Thursday afternoon when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a semitrailer on a Ward County road. The patrol says Tiller failed to yield at an intersection, and was dead at the scene.
The driver of the semitrailer was not injured.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) – A federal judge in North Dakota has rejected an appeal by a man convicted of killing his former baby sitter.
Michael Gianakos (jee-an-AH’-kose), of Moorhead, Minnesota, is serving a life sentence for the 1997 death of 22-year-old AnneMarie Camp, of Fargo. Authorities say she was killed because she knew about a motel robbery Gianakos and his wife had staged.
Gianakos claimed in a complaint filed last month that the jury convicted him of murder rather than the charged crime, which was kidnapping resulting in death. He says that makes the indictment invalid and he should be set free.
U.S. District Judge Ralph Erickson says the appeal is frivolous because Gianakos should have raised the issue with the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – It’s crunch time for the North Dakota Legislature.
Today is Day 71, which means North Dakota’s Senate and House have just nine days to clear bills on their respective calendars before the state constitution’s 80-day limit is imposed.
Data from the Legislative Council show 111 bills remained at midday Friday. Some 70 of those measures are in conference committees, where House and Senate members are working to reconcile differing versions of bills that have been endorsed in the other chamber.
Still ahead are big topics, including budget and tax bills, and an oil-tax measure that was introduced on Friday by GOP leaders that is being blasted by Democrats and leaders from the oil-rich Fort Berthold Indian Reservation.
MINOT, N.D. (AP) – Tourism industry officials in North Dakota are gathering in Minot this week for a conference.
The annual North Dakota Travel Industry Conference attracts about 200 professionals each year for education and networking sessions. This year’s event is Monday through Wednesday at the Holiday Inn Riverside in Minot.
State Tourism Director Sara Otte Coleman will be among the speakers. The presentation of the Governor’s Awards for Travel and Tourism will close out the conference.
Jamestown Tourism Director, Searle Swedlund will also be in attendance.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A Bismarck soup kitchen that serves the homeless is now itself looking for a home.
A Christian ministry has operated the Heaven’s Helpers Soup Cafe in a converted gas station for six years. It now serves almost 200 people each day. Proprietor Mark Meier says he was notified this month that his lease is being terminated at the end of May.
Property owner and former Bismarck mayor Marlan Haakenson says he’s selling all of his commercial property in the area. He says his real estate agent advised him the property would be more attractive to potential buyers if the soup kitchen wasn’t there.
Haakenson says he supports the Soup Cafe mission and is helping search for a new location.
DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) – A Dickinson-based baking company is celebrating its 60th anniversary as a second-generation family business.
Baker Boy has grown from three employees when it was established in 1955 by Marvin Moos to more than 200 workers. His son Guy Moos took over the company when he died in 2004.
The products themselves also have changed in the past six decades. Al Dassinger, the company’s research and development manager, says products have adapted as ingredients, such as flour, and other factors have changed.
The company’s 135,000 square-foot facility features a mixer made in Germany, a machine from Japan and an Italian-made oven.
The Baker Boy Donut hole locations in Jamestown were a fixture in the community for several years, operated by Duane and Ione Moos.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota’s State Historic Preservation Review Board is meeting this week to review nominations to the National Register of Historic Places.
The National Register is the list of properties that the federal government deems worthy of recognition and preservation.
Properties being considered for nomination are Independence Congregational Church near Mandaree and the gravesite in McLean County of Karna Hanson. Officials say the gravesite is the only surviving place associated with a woman who received medical training in Sweden and brought those skills to the North Dakota prairie.
The Independence Congregational Church was an important gathering place on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation prior to the construction of the Garrison Dam.
The board meeting is Friday at the state Heritage Center in Bismarck.
MINOT, N.D. (AP) – The Minot Public School District is fighting a lawsuit filed by an East Coast company that did cleanup work in schools after the 2011 Souris River flood.
District lawyers also are asking the court to order Servpro of the Seacoast to pay costs the district has incurred because of the lawsuit.
The New Hampshire-based Servpro franchise filed the suit in federal court this month, saying it did work at 10 school district buildings following the flood and estimating that it is still owed more than $2 million. The company wants a jury to hear the case and decide on money damages.
The school district in its answer to the lawsuit denies owing any money to Servpro. It wants the lawsuit dismissed.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The University of Mary in Bismarck will be dividing a more than $500,000 grant into several scholarships for low-income students interested in wildlife conservation or environmental science.
The grant from the National Science Foundation will assist 12 students who will receive the scholarships for four consecutive years provided they meet and maintain certain academic standards. School officials say recruiting Native American students will be a priority.
The scholarships will range between $8,000 and $10,000 per year. The first scholarships will be awarded to five students this fall.
The students who receive scholarships will be matched with a faculty member and a peer mentor and will attend monthly seminars with wildlife conservation and environmental science professionals to explore career options and network with others.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota tourism officials are expanding a program that allows motorcycle riders to earn a patch after traveling five of the state’s scenic byways and backways.
Officials are making it easier for riders to earn a patch by adding new routes and state parks to the state’s Scenic ByRider Program.
New routes include the loop ride within the South Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park in Medora, the Enchanted Highway north of Regent and the highways circling Devils Lake, including Grahams Island State Park. Riders can also visit North Dakota’s 12 other state parks.
Officials say the goal is to give people more opportunities to reach the five-location goal at a leisurely pace.

BOSTON (AP) – Lelisa Desisa of Ethiopia has won the 119th Boston Marathon in an unofficial time of 2 hours, 9 minutes, 17 seconds.
It’s his second victory here. He also won the 2013 race just hours before a pair of bombs exploded at the finish line. Desisa returned after the attacks to donate his medal to the city in memory of the victims.
Countryman Yemane Adhane Tsegay was second in 2:09:48, and Wilson Chebet of Kenya took third in 2:10:22. Dathan Ritzenhein was seventh overall and the first American in an unofficial 2:11:20, followed by last year’s winner, Meb Keflezighi, in 2:12:42.
Caroline Rotich (ROW-tish) won the women’s race in an unofficial 2:24:55. It’s the first Boston victory for the 30-year-old Kenyan. She finished fourth here in 2011.

BOSTON (AP) – Caroline Rotich (ROW-tish) has won the women’s race at the Boston Marathon in an unofficial time of 2 hours, 24 minutes, 55 seconds.
It’s the first Boston victory for the 30-year-old Kenyan. She finished fourth here in 2011.
Rotich outsprinted Ethiopians Mare Dibaba (MAH-ree Di-BAA-bah) and Buzunesh Deba (BOO-zoo-nesh DEH-nah) down Boylston Street to win by four seconds. American Desiree Linden finished third.

UNDATED (AP) – The Montreal Canadiens enjoy a three-games-to-none lead in the first round of the NHL’s Eastern Conference playoffs after Dale Weise (wees) scored twice in a 2-1 win at Ottawa.
The New York Islanders, Chicago Blackhawks and Calgary Flames all have 2-1 series leads after winning yesterday. The Isles beat Washingotn 2-1 on an overtime goal by John Tavares, Scott Darling stopped 35 shots in the Hawks’ 4-2 victory against Nashville and TJ Brodie had a goal and an assist as the Flames downed Vancouver 4-2.
NASCAR…
BRISTOL, Tenn. (AP) – Pole-sitter Matt Kenseth ended a 51-race losing streak by holding off Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon to win the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway. Kenseth led for just 47 laps yet came out on top in a race that had 21 lead changes and 11 cautions totaling 117 laps. The race went 11 laps past the scheduled 500 because of a quick rain shower, the fourth weather delay of the day.
FORMULA ONE-BAHRAIN GRAND PRIX…
SAKHIR, Bahrain (AP) – Defending champion Lewis Hamilton has won the Bahrain Grand Prix from the pole position to strengthen his overall lead in the Formula One standings. It is his third win in four races this season and 36th of his career.
Kimi Raikkonen (KEE’-mee RAY’-koh-nehn) finished second, followed by Nico Rosberg.
GOLF…
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (AP) – Jim Furyk (FYOOR’-ihk) birdied the second playoff hole to win the RBC Heritage, ending his five-year victory drought on the PGA Tour. Furyk finished tied with Kevin Kisner at 18 under par after firing an 8-under 63. Kisner posted a 64.
DULUTH, Ga. (AP) – Olin Browne has won the Greater Gwinnett Championship after constant rain forced the cancellation of the final round. It’s Browne’s first Champions Tour win in four years.
This is the first Champions Tour event to be shortened to 36 holes since the 2011 Insperity Championship in Houston.
TENNIS…
BRINDISI, Italy (AP) – The United States has been bounced from the Fed Cup after Serena Williams and Alison Riske were beaten by Italy’s Sara Errani and Flavia Pennetta 6-love, 6-3 in the decisive doubles match.
Williams had been 13-0 in Fed Cup singles and 3-0 in doubles before falling on Sunday.
MONACO (AP) – Top-ranked Novak Djokovic (NOH’-vak JOH’-kuh-vich) has won the Monte Carlo Masters by defeating sixth-seeded Tomas Berdych 7-5, 4-6, 6-3. It’s the second time Djokovic has won the title in three years. In extending his winning streak to 17 matches, Djokovic becomes the first player in tennis history to win the first three Masters tournament of the year after completing the Indian Wells-Miami sweep this spring.
NFL…
PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Tim Tebow (TEE’-boh) is expected to sign a one-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday. That’s according to three people familiar with the deal.
Tebow hasn’t played in the NFL since 2012 with the New York Jets.
In world and national news…
UNDATED (AP) – There’s a report of more migrant boats needing help in the Mediterranean. The International Organization for Migration says its Rome office has received a distress call from international waters in the Mediterranean about three boats in need of help. The IOM says the caller reported 300 people on his boat with about 20 fatalities and said the boat was sinking. The caller provided no information on the other boats. The IOM had no additional details.
WASHINGTON (AP) – The Secret Service says it’s nabbed a White House fence jumper. The agency says the incident happened at 10:25 last night. The Secret Service did not identify the person arrested or give other details. There has been a spate of recent lapses, including a September incident where a man actually entered the White House.
JERUSALEM (AP) – Israel still has no governing coalition after weeks of negotiation. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has received a two-week extension, saying he needs more time to form a stable coalition. Under Israeli election rules, if Netanyahu fails to form a coalition government after that time, Israeli President Reuven Rivlin can task someone else to do so.
BOSTON (AP) – The second Boston Marathon since the 2013 bombings will be run today with a field of 30,000. The weather forecast is calling for rain along the entire route from Hopkinton to Copley Square. There’s no security let-down by police even though last year’s race went off safely. Officials say that, if anything, authorities will be out in bigger force this year. Police have also banned drones from the course.
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) – A woman who shot an intruder in her home has, in turn, been shot by police in Alabama. Police in Huntsville officers shot the woman after she didn’t obey orders to drop her weapon. Police say the home invader, the woman’s estranged husband, had a gun and sustained life-threatening injuries. The woman is expected to survive.
