Firefighters and hazardous materials experts responded to the scene Sunday afternoon after a graduate student reported a liquid spill on the floor and a vapor cloud around a storage closet that held acids. Campus police evacuated the building.
Investigators eventually determined the problem to be the leaking steam line in a wall. The steam lines were shut down and the vapor cloud disappeared.

Enrollment has more than tripled since the recent oil boom began, to about 180 students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.
Alexander has dissolved an athletic cooperative agreement with Watford City so it can begin competing on its own. School board member Lashell Tjelde says restoring the athletics program is a point of community pride.

The North Dakota Game and Fish Department’s annual spring survey found 2,376 mule deer in a 306-square-mile area of the Badlands. That’s a 24 percent rise from last year and 16 percent higher than the long-term average.
It was the third consecutive year of a mule deer population increase of at least 15 percent – but biologists want the animals to recover even more before they once again allow hunters to go after females in the badlands.
However, Wildlife Chief Jeb Williams says doe hunting might not be far away. He says if there’s another mild winter next year, there could be some antlerless licenses made available for 2016.
