Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) — The Jamestown City Council met in Special Session on Friday (Nov 9, 2012) at 1-p.m., at City Hall.
Present were: Mayor Katie Andersen, City Attorney Ken Dalsted, City Engineer, Reed Schwartzkopf, City Administrator Jeff Fuchs, and all City Council members.
The panel recessed into closed Executive Session, for the purpose of consulting with the City Attorney concerning territorial service claims by Stutsman Rural Water District.
At issue is a claim by Stutsman Rural Water that Jamestown was expanding its water service into territory Stutsman Rural Water has rights to serve, in the area of the Titan Machinery facility under construction near Jamestown Regional Medical Center.
The area is in the one mile extraterritorial limits of the City of Jamestown.
Following the Executive Session the City Council reconvened the open public meeting, and it was adjourned by Mayor Andersen.
The city and the Rural Water District may meet in public session on November 15, 2012, depending on if District members have their schedule free to meet that day.
The open portion of the meeting was shown live on CSi Cable 67.
Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News (Nov 9, 2012) – The Jamestown City and Rural Fire departments were called out around 6:49 a.m. Friday… (Nov 9, 2012) to 616 2nd Avenue, Northwest, where a house was involved in flames.
When the fire units arrived the structure was fully involved inflames were shooting through the roof of the older two story house.
Both floors of the home were extensively damaged.
City Fire Chief Jim Reuther said two fire fighters were injured. One had a knee injury and was treated at a clinic.
Another fire fighter received a strained shoulder, and one city police officer fell on the ice. The extent of his injury was not known.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Joint Task Force of the City Fire Department, and the Jamestown Police Department.
Chief Reuther says the City Fire Department cleared the scene about 11:20 a.m.
While on scene, there the firefighters got a second fire call for a kitchen fire at 1108 6th Aveue Southeast at about 8:26-a.m.
The Rural Fire Department fire fighters along with a city fire department unit hopped in their trucks that were on the scene at the northwest house fire, and raced across town to that call, along with a city fire unit.
The fire caused damage to the kitchen.
Fire fighters pulled out the stove and refrigerator from the house, that were extensively scortched.
An occupant of the home suffered a burn and an ambulance was called to the scene for treatment.
Chief Reuther praised the Jamestown Rural Fire Department for their mutual aid as the pager unit at the Law Enforcement Center malfunctioned, and the City Fire Fighters were not able to be notified, that way.
Instead each City Fire Fighter had to be called by phone for the notification to respond to the first fire.
The Jamestown Rural Fire Department was notified by pager, and were able to arrive on the scene more quickly, as the City Fire Fighters then began to arrive.
The two fire departments were able to communicate with each other during the two fires, by patching into state radio.
Chief Reuther says the pager equipment was being tested through the day on Friday. As of Friday afternoon the pager equipment was still not operational, with the City Fire Department.
Then at about 4:30-p.m., Friday the City Fire Department was called to a rekindle at the 616 2nd Avenue, Northwest location.
Deputy Fire Chief Jerry Kainz says, two pumper trucks and an equipment truck returned to knock down hot spots at the scene.
Then the City Fire Department was called back to 616 2nd Avenue, Northwest about 10:30-p.m. to put out more hot spots that flared up.

FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Fargo police say a truck found submerged in
the Red River over the weekend belongs to North Dakota State

The discovery of the truck on Sunday morning prompted a search
for possible occupants who didn’t make it out of the vehicle. No
one was found.
Police say whoever took the truck probably just put it in gear
and let it travel down a hill into the water. The truck was in gear
and the keys were in the ignition when it was discovered.

The Missouri Valley Resource Council plans to submit a petition on
Tuesday to the Bismarck City Commission.
Scott Skokos says his group has collected 660 signatures in
favor of curbside recycling. Skokos says the group favors curbside
recycling because people would not have to drive to a recycling
site. And he says recycling would increase the life of the city’s
landfill.
Bismarck City Commissioner Mike Seminary says the commission
will hold a public hearing on the plan.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota Gov. Jack Dalrymple says he
doesn’t have a timeline for choosing a new state public service

of the year.
The commission regulates utilities, coal mining, pipelines,
grain elevators, telecommunications and auctioneers.
It has three members. Cramer’s term has four years left to run.
The person Dalrymple appoints will have to run for election in 2014
to keep the job.
The commission will have two new members in January. One will be
Cramer’s replacement. The second is Hazen Republican state Sen.
Randy Christmann.
Christmann was elected to the PSC last week. He defeated
Democrat Brad Crabtree.
The third commissioner is Republican Chairman Brian Kalk.

NBA…
LOS ANGELES (AP) – Mike D’Antoni’s agent says the Los Angeles
Lakers have signed the former coach of the Suns and Knicks to a
four-year contract to replace Mike Brown.
Warren Legarie confirmed the deal late Sunday night, two days
after the Lakers fired Brown five games into the season.
D’Antoni got the job over former Lakers coach Phil Jackson. The
11-time NBA champion coach spoke to the club’s top brass Saturday
about a return.
Instead, the Lakers went with D’Antoni, who spent five seasons
coaching Lakers point guard Steve Nash in Phoenix. D’Antoni then
coached New York for the past three seasons, resigning last March.
The Los Angeles Times first reported D’Antoni’s hiring several
hours after the Lakers beat Sacramento 103-90 for their second
straight win under interim coach Bernie Bickerstaff.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – Minnesota Timberwolves swingman Chas Budinger

Timberwolves made the announcement yesterday night, one day after

week. No timetable for his return will be set until afterward.

Talks took place for four straight days earlier in the week
before heated discussions ended the run Friday night. The decision
to formally meet again came Sunday morning.
The lockout already has caused the NHL to call off 327
regular-season games, including the New Year’s Day Winter Classic.
A lockout wiped out the entire 2004-05 season.
