WEST FARGO, N.D. (AP) – West Fargo police say two people used cinder blocks to help themselves to bottles of booze from a local liquor store.

Authorities say the two suspects threw the cinder blocks through a window at Liquor Mart shortly before 2 a.m. Wednesday and made off with several bottles of alcohol.

Investigators are reviewing the surveillance video to try to identify suspects.

WATFORD CITY, N.D. (AP) – A Texas man is accused of using a vehicle and a gun to threaten people at a party in the North Dakota oil patch town of Watford City.

Authorities allege 43-year-old Waylon Palmore, of Kirbyville, Texas, pointed his pickup at a group of partiers across the street from his mobile home early Sunday and revved the engine.

The Williston Herald reports when one of the partiers blocked his truck with another vehicle, Palmore alleged pointed a handgun at the group.

Palmore faces a felony terrorizing charge with a maximum sentence of five years. Court documents don’t list an attorney for him. A listed telephone number couldn’t be found for him in Watford City, and listings in Texas are disconnected.

Palmore could enter a plea at a Sept. 10 hearing.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Two Californians who admitted to human trafficking in the North Dakota oil patch have been sentenced to prison.

The case involved brothels disguised as massage parlors that operated between June 2010 and March 2014 in Minot, Dickinson and Williston. Authorities alleged that Trina Nguyen (wihn) and Loc Tran lured four women from California to work as prostitutes in the operation.

Federal Judge Daniel Hovland on Tuesday sentenced Nguyen to four years and two months in prison and Tran to two years in prison. Both will be on supervised release for five years following their prison terms.

Both defendants reached plea deals with prosecutors and pleaded guilty in April to charges related to human trafficking and coercion. They also must pay nearly $9,800 in restitution to a Williston real estate company.

Update…

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A plea agreement has been reached in the killing of a woman on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation.

Thirty-year-old Lance Summers pleaded guilty Wednesday to second-degree murder in the death last year of 38-year-old Natalie White Lightening of Cannon Ball.

The charge carries a maximum penalty of life in prison but the plea deal calls for 10 years.

U.S. District Judge Daniel Hovland told Summers he would not make any promises whether he would accept the deal. Sentencing has been set for November.

White Lightening was last seen by friends on March 17, 2014 and her body was discovered more than a month later by two people walking through a field on the 2.3 million-acre reservation that straddles North Dakota and South Dakota.

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) – Mississippi state authorities say a bomb squad has been sent to the spot where police took a man into custody Wdnesday for questioning over two shootings near a military facility. They say the move is “just out of an abundance of caution.” Police say a maroon pickup truck was stopped Wednesday morning after a brief pursuit, and a man was taken into custody. WASHINGTON (AP) – President Barack Obama says every country that has commented on the Iran nuclear deal has supported it – except for Israel. He singled out Israel’s government in a speech about the agreement today at American University. Obama also took aim at critics who had opposed his interim nuclear deal, but who now say it’s better than the final deal. He says thwarting the nuclear deal will actually accelerate Iran’s race for a nuclear weapon.

LANCASTER, N.H. (AP) – New Hampshire’s fire marshal says circus workers at first told spectators to stay in a tent as a severe storm neared on Monday, and then told them to seek shelter in their cars. A man and his 8-year-old daughter died when the tent collapsed as 60-mile-an-hour winds raked the Lancaster fairgrounds. The fire marshal says circus workers saw movement near the tent’s main entrance and told people to stay in their seats while they secured a piece of the canopy. As the winds rose, they told spectators to leave and find shelter.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – Microsoft says it will offer more paid leave to new parents and increase other benefits for U.S. employees. The announcement comes a day after Netflix announced generous new-parent benefits for its workers. Under its new policy, Microsoft will increase total paid leave for new mothers to 20 weeks, from a current 12 weeks paid and eight weeks of unpaid leave. New fathers will get 12 paid weeks. Netflix is offering up to a year of paid parental leave. Many tech companies offer generous benefits as they compete to attract talented engineers and other workers.
