Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown City Fire Department was called to a fire behind Gun’N Reel Sports shop in downtown Jamestown about 7:40 last evening.
An empty snowmobile shipping crate was on fire.
Some soot damage was reported to the adjacent buildings.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Four city fire deparment units and 25 fire fighters were on the scene about a half hour. No injuries reported.
Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown Regional Airport Authority reviewed commercial airline boardings in Jamestown which tripled in September this year.
As reported earlier by CSiNewsNow.com, there were 643 UnitedExpressSkyWest Airlines passenger boardings last month. That compares to 448 in 2014, 253 in 2013 and 171 in 2012. The year-to-date total so far is 6,101, compared to 1,940 in 2014.
Airport Manager Samuel Seafeldt said the 2014 boarding totals contrast somewhat in that they increased monthly from August through December. The 2015 numbers are higher than each month of 2014, but have declined since August.
October so far has been a good month and pre-booking reports from the airline shows daily boardings from 20 to 40 passengers.
With November and December as big travel months, if the airport stays above last year’s boardings as it has every month this year then it will meet the 8,000-seat goal.
The figure is consistent with the long-range plans of the airport, Boyd said. Since the opening of the new terminal in 2011, it is now attracting seating numbers not seen since 1978.
The Airport Authority declined an unsolicited lease renewal request from Dale Reimers, who has contracted to farm the 798 tillable acres surrounding the airport for the past five years. Reimers is a good tenant, Boyd said, but in the interest of transparency the Airport Authority members agreed 5-0 to open the lease for bids.
After discussion on how to proceed, the Airport Authority scheduled a special meeting on Nov. 4 to decide on the lease language and whether to pursue a sealed bid or an auction process.
Seafeldt also reported that the year-end budget was now at a negative $69,561. He attributed this to salary overrun, projects and unanticipated expenses for the new aircraft rescue firefighter vehicle.
The airport announced the $1,000 grant from Jamestown Tourism to renovate the kiosk advertising sign in the terminal.

Valley City (CSi) CHI Mercy Health Foundation is excited to announce the upcoming 20th Annual Festival of Trees to be held on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at the Valley City Eagles Club.
With the support of individuals and area businesses, the CHI Mercy Health Foundation raised over $20,000 at last year’s event to purchase new equipment for the Physical Therapy Department! Funds raised at this year’s Festival of Trees will go towards purchasing new equipment for their Physical Therapy department. This year, they are raising funds to purchase a new (Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry), also known as a DEXA Scanner, as their patients’ health depends on accurate diagnosis and preventive treatment. Currently, they provide over 400 DEXA scans per year at the hospital to diagnose osteoporosis. Osteoporosis involves a gradual loss of calcium, as well as structural changes, causing the bones to become thinner, more fragile and more likely to break. DEXA is also effective in tracking the effects of treatment for osteoporosis and other conditions that cause bone loss.
This year’s event will be extra special as they celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Festival of Trees Gala! The event will be upstairs at the Eagles Club this year for a served dinner and a live performance by Kat Perkins! The event will also include a Silent and Live Auction, Quilt Raffle, Deluxe Trip Raffle (valued at $5000), Wine Pull, and a Designer Purse (to be filled with an undetermined amount of cash!) featured on the live auction. The deadline for the state to petition the Supreme Court was Tuesday. A spokeswoman for Stenehjem says the state asked for an extension and got it. The new deadline is Nov. 30.

WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) – A Williams County commissioner is questioning the need to relocate Williston’s airport, raising concerns in letters to state and federal lawmakers.
Martin Hanson says he believes the city should keep the airport where it is, and upgrade the facility. He says that would reduce the cost and also preserve farmland.
Officials expect to break ground in the spring on a $254 million airport. The city is looking to acquire 1,540 acres from eight landowners – a majority of which is now farmed.
Hanson says if a new airport is built, it should be in McKenzie County so it could serve Williston, Watford City and Sidney, Montana.
