Paul Tagliabue (TAG’-lee-uh-boo) has overturned the suspensions of four current and former New Orleans Saints players. The former commissioner says three of the players did engage in a cash-for-hits program that was detrimental to the league, but he added the team’s coaches were very much involved and had “contaminated” the case.
The Chicago Bears placed kicker Robbie Gould (gold) on injured
reserve with a strained left calf. To replace one of the most
accurate kickers in league history, the team has signed Olindo Mare
(oh-LIHN’-doh MAHR’-ay) to a one-year contract.
