Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown Bus Depot’s ribbon cutting is set for Tuesday November 24, 2015 with the time to be announced. A representative from Jefferson Bus Lines will be on hand. Charlie Kourajian says, when the Jefferson Bus Lines bus comes to Jamestown on Monday, however it will be stopping at the new bus depot at 119 – 2nd Ave. S.E.
He says thanks to the generosity of the parishioners of the First Congregational Church of Christ, the garage on their parking lot has been remodeled to be the local bus depot.
The project was funded by a grant from the City of Jamestown and donations from many community-minded people.
The JSDC also approved a grant of up to $5,000 for the Jamestown bus depot project. The grant passed unanimously and will be funded by the JSDC workforce recruiting budget in an effort to bring more workers into Jamestown.
Except for professional services like excavating, plumbing, electrical work, all work was done by volunteers.
The bus depot will be operated by volunteers from the Jamestown Bus Stop, Inc., a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation and will be open during the times the buses arrive, which are 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. (eastbound) and then again at 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. (westbound). The eastbound bus leaves Jamestown at 10-a.m., and the westbound bus leaves at 2-p.m.
At this time, the depot is not set up to sell tickets, but will be around the first of the year. At that time the bus depot will receive a percentage of tickets sold in Jamestown. Jefferson Bus Lines will pay the depot’s internet and telephone line costs. It will cost about $500 month in overhead to operate the bus depot. Donations to help defray the cost are excepted. Contact Charlie Kourajian at 701-320-3015 for more information.

Update…
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Authorities in Dunn County have recovered a vehicle belonging to a man suspected in a Bismarck homicide.
Police say a Dunn County sheriff’s deputy found the car abandoned shortly before dawn Monday. The search for 35-year-old suspect Kirk Kwasniewski was continuing.
Authorities suspect Kwasniewski of killing another man in a domestic dispute. A woman called police shortly after 1 a.m. Monday, saying a man was in her home threatening her with a gun. She found her 30-year-old boyfriend dead in the home.
The suspect fled and wasn’t immediately apprehended. Police urged residents of the neighborhood to stay in their homes and lock their doors for a time while officers searched the immediate area.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Opponents of a planned Red River diversion project around Fargo and Moorhead, Minnesota say they’re happy to finally get their day in court.
The $2 billion channel is designed to move water around the flood-prone Fargo metropolitan area, but would need a staging area south of the city to store water in times of serious flooding. A group representing about 20 upstream cities and townships in North Dakota and Minnesota filed a lawsuit in August 2013 asking for a cheaper project that doesn’t flood farmland.
A hearing is scheduled Monday in federal court in Minneapolis to discuss whether the complaint has merit.
Tim Fox, state’s attorney in Wilkin County, Minnesota, says it’s the first time the “substantive elements” of the case will be argued in front of a federal judge.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Some North Dakota Highway Patrol troopers are growing mustaches to show support for an injured South Dakota Highway Patrol trooper.
Ten-year veteran trooper Zachary Bader sustained injuries from an assault during a traffic stop near Rapid City last month. He was recently released from a Rapid City hospital and is recovering from injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
Many North Dakota troopers are growing their mustaches to support Bader, calling it No Shave November. Troopers say funds also are being raised to help with medical expenses. Some of it is coming from money patrolmen are saving by not shaving.
Four Washington state residents are charged in the assault that injured Bader. Authorities say they recovered more than 50 pounds of marijuana, $33,000 in cash and a handgun after the incident.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The police department in Bismarck is launching a new traffic safety campaign meant to teach pedestrians and drivers the rules of the road that apply to crosswalks and intersections.
The department’s “Traffic Tip Tuesday” will cover topics such as uncontrolled intersections, defensive driving and cyclists’ responsibilities.
Police will cover one topic every Tuesday by releasing information through traditional media, the city’s website and the social media accounts of the city and the department.
The department says 785 traffic crashes occurred at intersections last year in Bismarck, 22 of those involved pedestrians. This year, the city has seen more than 600 intersection crashes and 27 of them have involved pedestrians.
MANDAN, N.D. (AP) – Grant funding is expected to fall short for $1.3 million in renovations to the Morton County Courthouse.
County commissioners debated last week whether the grant should focus on $120,000 for a new courthouse security system or a new court space featuring a courtroom, two district judge offices, court reporters offices, a conference room, client-attorney meeting rooms, a jury room and security offices.
Sheriff Kyle Kirchmeier says there might only be $1 million available statewide in the State Courthouse Improvement Grant program and that Morton County might only receive up to $600,000 in grant funding.
Commission chairman Bruce Strinden says renovations to the Mandan courthouse’s north entrance, where visitors pass through security, are most needed.
MINOT, N.D. (AP) – A senior at Minot High School is preparing for her debut singing performance at the world-renowned Carnegie Hall in New York City. Fighting Hawks received the most votes in the first two rounds of voting but didn’t get more than 50 percent in either round. That prompted the third runoff vote.
The Utah-based private research company Qualtrics has conducted the voting, which is restricted to people with UND ties. Earlier voting eliminated North Stars, Sundogs and Nodaks as possible new nicknames.

BRUSSELS (AP) – A hunt for a suspect in the Paris attacks focused today on a Brussels neighborhood where two small explosions were heard as dozens of masked and heavily armed security officials sealed off the area. The first explosion happened about two hours into the siege followed by a similar blast one hour later on a higher floor of a building with special security forces close by on roofs. Police gave no details. France has identified a Belgian as the suspected mastermind of the Paris attacks and also linked him to thwarted train and church attacks.
