Valley City (CSi)  The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports, a rollover accident occurred Friday about 7-p.m., in the eastbound lane of Interstate 94 about 5 miles west of Valley City.  Valley City  Fire & Rescue personnel responded.

The crash remains under investigation with the North Dakota Highway Patrol

Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown City Fire Department reports that the cause of a single dwelling house fire on November 20, 2015 has been officially listed , as an electrical malfunction in the attic area.

There was extensive smoke and water damage to the home, and the fire caused the roof to sag.

The residents, the two homeowners and a child were in the home when the fire started and escaped safely, along with the family’s pet cat, The Red Cross was on the scene giving assistance.

 

Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown City Fire Department reports the cause of a mobile-home fire at 115 Sunnyside Mobile Manor in NW Jamestown, ND , Friday November 20, about 6:15pm .

The report says the cause was radiant heat from the oven range. One firefighter injury . Time out 1 hour 45 minutes.

The city fire department was called back to several re-kindles of the fire.

 

Jamestown (CSi) The Stutsman County Water Resource Board has referred a complaint of alleged illegal drainage in Chicago Township to the North Dakota State Water Commission for review.

Arlen Hillius and David Deutscher allege that a drain tile system installed by Matt Rau drains water into Bader Lake which then floods some of their properties..

The State Water Commission has jurisdiction over drains that affect more than 80 acres of watershed. If the State Water Commission determines the drain tile field in question drains less than an 80-acre area, the complaints will be referred back to the Stutsman County Water Resource Board.

The Water Resource Board has approved an application for a surface drain for Harry Krause provided he get the proper flowage easement to allow the drained water to cross Duane Suko’s property.

 

DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (AP) – One person died in a house fire in Devils Lake over the weekend.
 
     Assistant Fire Chief Cory Meyer says firefighters responded to the home about 1 p.m. Sunday. The state fire marshal’s office has been called in to investigate the cause of the blaze.
 
     Authorities did not immediately name the victim.

 

 MINOT, N.D. (AP) – The Minot Police Department says it’s investigating a shooting that left a man dead and a woman wounded.
 
     A police statement says it happened just after 3 a.m. Sunday when a caller reported multiple gunshots in an alley. Officers arrived to find two victims with gunshot wounds.
 
     The 30-year-old man was pronounced dead at Trinity Hospital. The 43-year-old woman is being treated for her injuries.
 
     Names of the victims and the woman’s condition have not been released.
 
     Police say more information will be released when it becomes available.

 

 BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A man is accused of assaulting a police officer and faces two other charges stemming from an investigation into a drive-by shooting on the Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation. Michael Decoteau is charged with tampering, false statements and assault and resisting a federal officer. He has pleaded not guilty. Decoteau also is accused of lying to investigators about the ownership of a handgun.

 

FARGO, N.D. (AP) – A 25-year-old man has been sentenced to three years in prison in a North Dakota sex trafficking case.
 
     Willie Bernard Navy Jr. is charged in federal court with transportation for purposes of prostitution. He pleaded guilty in September.
 
     Authorities say Navy brought someone to North Dakota in November 2014 in order to sell sex in the oil patch.
 
     U.S. District Judge Ralph Erickson ordered Navy to serve five years of supervised release when he is freed from prison. The judge says Navy might have to register as a sex offender depending on the laws of the state where he chooses to reside.
 
     A federal public defender was not available for comment Friday.

 

 BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota is getting $1.2 million in federal money to help retailers pay for biofuels equipment.
 
     The money is through the federal Agriculture Department’s Biofuels Infrastructure Partnership. It reimburses retailers for the cost of such equipment as blender pumps and biofuel tanks.
 
     The North Dakota Ethanol Council says the money is expected to fund 90 fuel dispensers for higher-level ethanol blends and 12 fuel tanks next year.
 
     The state Commerce Department administers the program.

 

 BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota’s Transportation Department is making available its statewide transportation improvement program for the next four years.
 
     The improvements include state and county highways, urban streets, roadway safety features, bikeways and busing programs. They’re being funded with federal highway and transit funds.
 
     Details of the 2016-19 plan are available for public viewing on the department’s website, at http://www.dot.nd.gov .
 
     The department also is taking public comments until Jan. 15 as it prepares the next plan, covering 2017-2020.

 

 BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Several historic sites across North Dakota will be hosting holiday events over the next two weeks.
 
     The Former Governors’ Mansion State Historic Site in Bismarck is decorated for the holiday season and will be hosting open houses Sunday and Dec. 6. The public will be able to tour the mansion and participate in sing-alongs and a prize drawing. Both open houses are free to attend.
 
     Meanwhile, people visiting the Chateau de Mores Interpretive Center in Medora on Dec. 6 will get a chance to sample a buffet featuring foods from the Northern Plains Ethnic Foundation during the Taste of Ethnic Christmas event.
 
     The State Historical Society of North Dakota says the Missouri-Yellowstone Confluence Interpretive Center in Williston will be hosting an afternoon of music Dec. 13.

 

 BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Military airplanes are taking to the skies this week for the first large-scale exercise in a training area over the Northern Plains.
 
     The exercise in the 35,000-square-mile Powder River Training Complex is Wednesday and Thursday. Bombers, fighter jets and refueling tankers will be practicing maneuvers in the airspace over the Dakotas, Montana and Wyoming.
 
     The FAA in March approved quadrupling the training airspace, making it the largest over the continental U.S. The move came over the objections of some people in the region who worry about disruptions.
 
     Ellsworth Air Force Base spokesman Master Sgt. John Barton says  this week’s exercise won’t involve supersonic speeds, so it will be less noisy.

(CSi) The Jamestown Jimmies men’s basketball team picked up another quality road win on Saturday night, defeating Cardinal Stritch (Wis.) in Fremont, Neb., 81-75.

The victory was the fourth for the Jimmies against teams either ranked or getting votes in the preseason poll.

 

(CSi) The University of Jamestown’s women’s basketball team’s Makenzie Bebo contributed 13 points, four 3-pointers and a pair of assists as the sixth-ranked Jimmies powered past Waldorf College 89-53 on its home floor in Forest City, Iowa.

 

 EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) – North Dakota forward Drake Caggiula scored two goals for the second straight game to lead the Fighting Hawks to a 4-1 men’s hockey win over Michigan State on Sunday.
 
     Caggiula tied the game late in the first period. He added a short-handed goal in the second.
 
     UND (12-2-2) swept the two-game series at East Lansing, Michigan.
 
     Caggiula, who also added an assist, had two goals in Friday’s 3-1 win.
 
     Joel Janatuinen and Brock Boeser also scored for the fifth-ranked Fighting Hawks.
 
     Tucker Poolman and Nick Schmaltz had two assists apiece. Schmaltz extended his point-scoring streak to eight games. Boser’s streak reached six.
 
     UND goalie Cam Johnson made 33 saves. Jake Hildebrand made 23 stops for the Spartans (4-7-2).

 ATLANTA (AP) – Adrian Peterson ran for 158 yards and a pair of touchdowns as the Minnesota Vikings beat the slumping Atlanta Falcons 20-10 on Sunday. Minnesota jumped ahead on Peterson’s 1-yard run in the opening quarter and clinched it when he got loose on a 35-yard scamper down the sideline with 4:15 remaining in the game.

  The Denver Broncos have ended the New England Patriots’ perfect run by defeating the Pats 30-24 on C.J. Anderson’s 48-yard touchdown with 2:28 gone in overtime.

GREY CUP…

 WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) – Jordan Lynch scored on a 1-yard sneak with 3:22 left and the Edmonton Eskimos rallied to beat the Ottawa Redblacks 26-20 on Sunday night for their 14th Grey Cup title.
 
     Lynch, the former Northern Illinois star in his rookie season with Eskimos, scored on a third-down play. Starting quarterback Mike Reilly then threw a 2-point conversion pass to Akeem Shavers.
 
     Reilly was selected the most valuable player of the game. The former Central Washington quarterback was 21 of 35 for 269 yards and two touchdowns without an interception. He also ran for 66 yards on 10 carries.
 
     The Eskimos won the Canadian Football League title for the first time since 2005.
 
     The Redblacks advanced to the championship game in their second season in the league. The city’s last CFL championship came in 1976 with the former Rough Riders.

 LOS ANGELES (AP) – Kobe Bryant has announced he will retire at the end of the season, writing in The Players’ Tribune on Sunday that his heart and mind can handle another season, but his body knows it’s time to say goodbye.  The Los Angeles Lakers guard ranks third on the NBA’s career scoring list with more than 32,000 points, but he is averaging just 15.7 points on a career-worst 32 percent shooting in 12 games. He’s won two Olympic gold medals, earned five NBA titles and been named an All-Star 17 times.

 

TV SPORTS…

NEW YORK (AP) – The NFL has moved the Dec. 13 game between New England and Houston to prime time.
 
     Switched from the Sunday night game to 1 p.m. EST is Seattle at Baltimore.
 
     The league routinely switches more attractive Sunday afternoon matches to prime time when the previously scheduled evening game is not as enticing. The Patriots lead the AFC East and the Texans now are tied for the lead in the AFC South.
 
     Seahawks-Ravens moves from NBC 11  to Fox 9. 

 

 COLLEGE FOOTBALL-AP POLL…
 
 
     UNDATED (AP) – Clemson continues to hold onto the top spot in this week’s Associated Press college football poll.
 
     The 12-0 Tigers picked up 53 of the 61 first-place votes after holding off South Carolina.  The other eight go to second-ranked Alabama, which wrapped up the SEC West title with a win over Auburn.
 
     Oklahoma is third, followed by Iowa and Michigan State. Ohio State, Stanford, North Carolina, Notre Dame and Florida State round out the top 10.

 

MLB…

 
     DETROIT (AP) – The Detroit Tigers reportedly have landed one of the top free agent starting pitchers, getting right-hander Jordan Zimmermann.
 
     The 29-year-old Zimmermann went 13-10 with a 3.66 ERA last season for the Washington Nationals, striking out 164 with 39 walks. He went 14-5 with a 2.66 ERA in 2014.
 
     CBS Sports first reported the deal, which was pending a physical. ESPN.com reported the financial terms at $110 million over five years.

 LE BOURGET, France (AP) – One-hundred-and-51 world leaders have kicked off two weeks of high-stakes climate talks outside Paris. Addressing the twin threats of global warming and extremist violence, the leaders say that by striking a deal to cut greenhouse emissions, they can show terrorists what countries can do when they stand together.
 
     LE BOURGET, France (AP) – World leaders at the climate conference have held a moment of silence in honor of people killed in recent attacks in Paris, Beirut, Baghdad, Tunisia and Mali. Some leaders have visited the sites of the deadly Nov. 13 attacks in Paris. President Barack Obama laid a flower at a concert hall where dozens were killed.
 
     CHICAGO (AP) – One of the nation’s top universities has called off classes on the first day students are due back from Thanksgiving holiday because of an online threat.  The University of Chicago says all classes and activities are canceled for today after the FBI passed along a threat of gun violence on the campus quad.
 
     BALTIMORE (AP) – The first trial in the death of Freddie Gray gets underway in Baltimore today. Gray was a 25-year-old black man who was critically injured in the back of a police transport van. Officer William Porter is accused of checking on Gray several times but not getting him any help. Six officers have been indicted in the case.
 
     LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) – Police in Lincoln, Nebraska, say two of their officers were wounded and a man fatally shot during a confrontation Sunday evening. Neither injury is described as life-threatening.  A police statement says the confrontation happened when officers responded to a report of suspicious activity.
