Valley City (CSi) Allegations have been stated against six Valley City officials by Valley City resident Robert Drake.
Some of the allegations include:
Accusations of City Administrator David Schelkoph not following the proper procedure over a sexual harassment allegation against Police Chief Fred Thompson.
An allegation accuses Police Lieutenant David Swenson of engaging in sexual relations while on duty.
Another accuses City Attorney Russell Myhre of purchasing alcohol to minors under investigation by the state BCI.
An alleged conflict of interest against City Commissioners Matt Pedersen and Duane Magnuson and City Commissioner Mary Lee Nielson, accused of withholding information to city officials about some of these allegations.
Nielson is being accused of being involved in a hateful website that discredited three people running for public office back in 2006 when she was the Mayor of Valley City.
At the same time, four city officials David Schelkoph, Fred Thompson, David Swenson and Russell Myhre have made a request to the Barnes County State’s Attorney to have the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation conduct an investigation to determine if Robert Drake and Valley City Mayor Bob Werkhoven violated a North Dakota Century Code purportedly threatening a Public Servant, with the intent to influence the actions of public officials of Valley City to obtain a favorable decision on the filing of a proposed petition to disband the Valley City police department.
Also requested is that the BCI investigate whether a North Dakota Century Code was violated under Criminal Defamation by publishing a December 7th letter of the accusations by Robert Drake and to see if Mayor Bob Werkhoven participated in the dissemination of the December 7th letter.
Jamestown (CSi) Pam Musland of Jamestown is seeking endorsement from District 12 Dem-NPL voters for a North Dakota House of Representatives seat in the 2016 election.
A news release states: “Jamestown has been my home for more than 20 years. I love this community and want to give back through the legislative process,” (said Musland.) “With the decline in revenue from the oil patch, state budgets and funding for critical programs will be cut back. I want to make sure adequate funding for our schools, human services, and job growth continues.”
Musland is the marketing and communications supervisor at North Dakota Farmers Union. She serves on the TRAC advisory board, Jamestown Tennis Association, Area 9 Special Olympics Management Team, Rural Leadership North Dakota board, and is a longtime Meals on Wheels volunteer.
She and her husband Roy have three grown children. The youngest is a student at the University of Jamestown.
District 12 candidate endorsements for the Dem-NPL Party will be held Sunday, Feb. 21, at 2 p.m. at the Gladstone Inn. A social will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. All voters are welcome to attend.
District 12 encompasses five of the six precincts in the city of Jamestown.
Jamestown (CSi) Prairie Paws Rescue presents the Raise The Woof Comedy Show fundraiser, on Saturday January 30, 2016 at the Gladstone Inn & Suites in Jamestown. The doors open at 7-p.m., the show starts at 8-p.m.
Tickets are $10 in advance, and $15 the day of the show, and can be purchased at R.M. Stoudt, Dr. Dawn’s Pet Stop, Country Acres Vet, Southwood Vet, Ingstad Family Media, or an Prairie Paws Rescue volunteer.
Sponsorships are available for Raise the Woof for $100 and includes two tickets to the show.
On Thursday’s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Prairie Paws Rescue President and Co-Founder Kaye John pointed out that at the event there will be raffles, including four “mystery suitcases,” with day trips worth between $200 and $400 each, and includes gasoline vouchers, donated locally. In addition there will be 41 raffle baskets.
Prairie Paws Rescue is a non-profit group with all volunteers and gives animals a foster home while seeking a permanent home.
Kaye said that there’s a need for more foster families, who take care of the animals until adopted. Costs associated with caring for the animals is paid by Prairie Paws.
In 2015 the group Prairie Paws was able to give 163 cats and dogs a permanent, new home, stemming from business partnerships and volunteers drivers.
The cost of adopting a dog is $150 and $50 plus tax for a cat.
The cost includes all shots, and all animals are micro-chipped, contiaining information in the event it gets lost, to find the owner.

Jamestown (CSi) Former Jamestown resident, Ronda Rousey will host Saturday Night Live” this weekend. Ronda, will share the camera with pop-singer Selena Gomez.
Sharon Cox reports that, Rhonda is the daughter of AnnMarie Rousey, and Ronda, her two older sisters and dad Ron lived in Jamestown in the early 1990s with her mom, when professor Ann-Marie Rousey,she was teaching in the psychology department at then Jamestown College.
A UFC’s bantamweight champion, Ronda was defeated in her most recent fight with Holly Holm in Australia on November 15, 2015. She has a day job as an actress.
Ronda is presently filming a remake of the movie “Roadhouse.” She was the sole female actor in “The Expendables 3” (2014), and played herself in “Entourage,” filmed last year.
Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown Regional Airport Authority has reviewed passenger boardings for 2015, and re-elected officers.
Jamestown Regional Airport had 936 passenger boardings in December and 8,642 total boardings for 2015.
Passenger boardings are also up 128 percent from last year.
In other business, the Airport Authority unanimously voted to add a second wall-mount panel to provide better cell phone service to passengers at a cost of about $400 per panel not including labor costs.
The Airport Authority voted unanimously to keep its board of officers the same as 2015. Chariman Jim Boyd, Vice President,Jeff Wilhelm, and Treasurer, Sam Seafeldt.
MINOT, N.D. (AP) – Authorities in Minot are seeking the public’s help in finding a bank robbery suspect. The Police Department says a robbery was reported at the U.S. Bank in downtown Minot at about 11:30 a.m. on Thursday. The man didn’t show a weapon during the robbery, but passed a note to the teller demanding money. No injuries were reported.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A jury in Bismarck has found a 37-year-old man guilty of sexually assaulting a teenage girl. Fabian Harrison was convicted on four counts of gross sexual imposition Thursday afternoon. Authorities tell the Bismarck Tribune Fabian Harrison raped the girl four times over the course of six months, beginning in December 2014 when she was 14.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Some North Dakota lawmakers are meeting to discuss less-than-expected tax collections due to declining oil activity.
The North Dakota Legislature’s Advisory Council on Revenue Forecasting is meeting Friday at the state Capitol.
The Legislature’s two-year budget was built on economic assumptions that have proven far too rosy, and lawmakers will be scrambling in the coming weeks to decide what to do about it.
Office of Management and Budget Director Pam Sharp says overall tax revenues through December are about $215 million less than projected. Most of the drop comes from weakened sales tax revenue, which provides the biggest share of the budget for North Dakota government.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Federal Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack has appointed a Fargo man to serve on the U.S. Department of Agriculture Grain Inspection Advisory Committee.
North Dakota Grain Inspection project manager Kia Mikesh is among four newly appointed members from around the country who will serve 3-year terms on the committee.
The committee advises the agriculture secretary and the Grain Inspection, Packers and Stockyards Administration on the programs and services it delivers under the U.S. Grain Standards Act.
WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) – A North Dakota State University official wants to find out why research plots of soybeans are producing better yields than what farmers on average are getting.
NDSU extension agronomist and project coordinator Hans Kandel says if the study is successful, it could improve soybean production statewide.
Kandel says the yield gap exists across the state but is slightly higher in the east than in the west. He says some trial plots in the east are producing yields of 50 bushels per acre, while the statewide average is in the range of 35 bushels.
Kandel believes variety selection, planting date and plant population might be factors. He hopes to have some study results before spring planting.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) – A South Dakota farm partnership says a lawsuit by a North Dakota farmer over allegations of stolen soybeans is frivolous and the group is still owed money for the crop.
A federal complaint by Glenn Herr, of Wishek, accuses Cornhusker Farms of Bath, South Dakota, and a private investigation firm of wrongly blaming him for stealing a $10,000 truckload of soybeans.
Herr says he was charged with the theft because of malicious and false statements by the defendants and says the contract and documents supporting him were intentionally withheld. The charges were eventually dismissed.
Cornhusker Farms says any liability rests with the private investigator and have filed a counterclaim against Herr for the soybeans.
Zylstra Investigations, of Aberdeen, South Dakota, says Herr’s allegations against them are “made without reasonable cause.”
MINOT, N.D. (AP) – A jury in Minot has convicted a man accused of killing another man in the city.
Thirty-eight-year-old Anthony Campbell was charged with murder in the September 2014 death of 25-year-old Shannon Brunelle.
Brunelle was found stabbed to death in an apartment building garage where he’d been staying, and Campbell was arrested in Philadelphia after a nine-week search.
Jurors deliberated for six hours Wednesday before retiring for the night. The Minot Daily News reports that they reached their verdict Thursday morning.
Prosecutor Kelly Dillon said DNA evidence tied Campbell to the killing, and that his timing in fleeing Minot suggested guilt.
Defense attorney Samuel Gereszek said Campbell and Brunelle were friends, and that Brunelle’s death was “an execution, not just a random fight.”
Campbell faces life in prison.
MINOT, N.D. (AP) – Jurors will soon decide the fate of a Minot Air Force Base woman accused of causing a fatal accident in Minot more than two years ago. Attorneys are scheduled to give their closing arguments to the jury on Friday in the trial of Maria Sutton. Sutton is accused of driving her car in the wrong lane in June 2013 and striking a vehicle driven by Robert Morrison head-on. She faces a negligent homicide charge.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Federal Energy Regulatory Commission member Tony Clark says he won’t seek reappointment when his term ends June 30th.
The Republican made the announcement on his Twitter account Thursday, and his staff confirmed his intention. The federal agency regulates utilities, power generators and pipelines.
Clark was a member of the North Dakota Public Service Commission before President Barack Obama nominated him for one of two GOP spots on the five-member Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Clark joined the federal agency in Washington in 2012.
Clark served on the North Dakota PSC for almost 12 years after first being elected in 2000. The state commission oversees utilities and pipelines in North Dakota, the nation’s second-top oil producing state.
Clark is a former North Dakota state lawmaker and labor commissioner.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Scientists at the University of North Dakota’s Energy and Environmental Research Center want to drill down more than 16,000 feet into the oldest rock on the planet.
The researchers want to test whether crystalline rock is suitable for storing spent nuclear waste, though they say it’s not a step toward nuclear waste disposal in North Dakota.
The researchers next week will ask the State Land Board for permission to use 20 acres of state-owned land in Pierce County for the federal Energy Department project.
Associate Research Director John Harju says scientists would get the opportunity to study rock that’s as old as 6 million years. He says drilling would take nine months, and core samples would be studied by geologists for decades.

Jamestown (CSi) University of Jamestown head volleyball coach Jon Hegerle has announced the signing of Meghan Orr from Jamestown, N.D., who will join the Jimmies in the 2016-17 season.
Orr, who played libero at Jamestown High School, finished her career as the Blue Jays’ all-time leader in digs (2189) and holds the JHS records for most digs in a season (821) and most digs in a single match (62). She was named All-Conference and All-State following the 2014 and 2015 seasons and was named to the 2012 All-State tournament team.
While at JHS, Orr also competed in basketball, track, choir, and is a member of the National Honor Society.
Hegerle, says, “Meghan is a great addition to our volleyball program.
She comes from a family that tirelessly supports athletics and the Jimmies, and has grown up under the wing of Jimmie athletics. I have coached Meghan since she was in 6th grade in the Jamestown juniors program and have watched her mature, develop and excel not only in volleyball, but in multiple sports as well as in the classroom as a Blue Jay.
He adds, “Meghan is a competitor and certainly embodies the Shakespeare quote ‘And though she be but little, she is fierce.’ Meghan’s motor never stops. She never takes a play off and competes with the purpose of not only winning, but in honoring the sport by playing the right way. Most importantly, Meghan is a selfless teammate and a conscientious leader. Her commitment to excellence and her team is uncommon which is why we expect her results to be uncommon. We are thrilled to have Meghan join an accomplished group of defensive minded back row players.”
The daughter of Darron and Barb Orr, Meghan plans to major in Biology at the University of Jamestown.

UNDATED (AP) – Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant has been selected to the NBA All-Star game for the 18th time after receiving a league-high 1.9 million votes. Bryant will be joined in the Western Conference lineup by MVP Stephen (STEH’-fehn) Curry of Golden State, Oklahoma City’s Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, and San Antonio’s Kawhi (kah-WY’) Leonard. BALTIMORE (AP) – Chris Davis has signed the richest contract in the history of the Baltimore Orioles, a seven-year package worth $161 million. Davis paced the majors with 47 home runs last season while scoring 100 times and driving in 117 runs. Davis leads the majors with 159 home runs since 2012 and ranks fourth with 412 RBIs during that period.
Florida prosecutors have decided not to file charges in a domestic disturbance case involving Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman and his girlfriend last October.
Major League Baseball is pushing back this year’s deadline to make trades without waivers by one day to Monday, Aug 1. The move is designed to avoid having players on the field during Sunday afternoon games as they are about to get dealt.

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates (AP) – An American amateur has upstaged the stars in the first round of the Abu Dhabi Championship.
Bryson DeChambeau fired an 8-under 64 in just his seventh start in a professional event to take the lead after the first round.
The 22-year-old won the U.S. Amateur and NCAA Championship last year.
He has a one shot lead over Henrik Stenson and is two in front of Rory McIlory.
Top-ranked Jordan Spieth (speeth) is four back.
KAUPULEHU-KONA, Hawaii (AP) – Joe Durant shot a 7-under 65 to take a one-stroke lead in the PGA Tour Champions’ season-opening Mitsubishi Electric Championship.
The 51-year-old Durant had nine birdies and two bogeys at Hualalai Golf Course.

WASHINGTON (AP) – A state of emergency is in effect today in several states and Washington, D.C. as a weekend blizzard menaces the Eastern United States. Pennsylvania is the latest to declare an emergency. Two feet or more of snow could fall in some areas. The nation’s capital and surrounding area began hunkering down early, with public transportation suspended hours before any snow fell.
UNDATED (AP) – The Little Rock, Arkansas area has already gotten six inches of snow from the major storm expected to menace the East later today. The state’s largest utility, Entergy Arkansas, says about 12,500 homes and businesses are without power. Forecasters say snow and sleet accumulations could reach 4 to 6 inches in West Tennessee. In Memphis, where blizzard conditions are possible, salt trucks and plows are ready to clear roads of snow and ice. Three warming centers are open.
TOKYO (AP) – The top U.N. envoy on North Korea, who’s requests to enter have been repeatedly denied, says harsh human rights conditions in the country have barely changed and its leader, Kim Jong Un should be held criminally responsible. Marzuki Darusman says a global effort to improve human rights in North Korea must continue. North Korea today announced the arrest of an American student for “hostile acts.”
TUNIS, Tunisia (AP) – Unrest building since Sunday has triggered a nationwide curfew in Tunisia. Officials say the spreading unrest is a danger to public safety. In a statement, the Interior Ministry said the curfew would last from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. The unrest was triggered by the death of a young jobseeker.
VATICAN CITY (AP) – Pope Francis is warning that carelessly chosen words can be dangerous. In his annual message to mark the church’s world day of social communications, Francis on Friday urged politicians and public opinion-makers in particular to be inspired by mercy. He says they shouldn’t exploit others or situations to fan the flames of “mistrust, fear and hatred” with their words. His appeal seemed in part aimed at the anti-immigrant rhetoric in Europe and the U.S.

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) – Maria Sharapova has earned her 600th career victory while moving into the fourth round of the Australian Open.
The fifth seed and five-time Grand Slam winner dominated the first and last sets of a 6-1, 6-7, 6-0 win over American Lauren Davis. Sharapova next meets Belinda Bencic (BEHN’-chich). The 12th-seeded Bencic also posted a three-sets victory.
Defending and six-time champion Serena Williams is into the fourth round at the Australian Open after a 6-1, 6-1 win in 45 minutes over 18-year-old Russian Daria Kasatkina.
Agnieszka Radwanska has reached the round of 16 at the Australian Open for the sixth straight year, beating Puerto Rico’s Monica Puig 6-4, 6-0.
