FARGO, N.D. (AP) – A Fargo woman says she’s not guilty of using
her car to try to run over three people.

Sumaya Hassan is charged with two counts of attempted murder,
terrorizing and criminal mischief.
Police say the April incident began when Hassan and some other
people got into an argument. They later met in the parking lot of a
West Fargo church.
Hassan is accused of using her car to hit another vehicle and
with trying to run over some bystanders.
Hassan pleaded not guilty to the charges Thursday.

GLADSTONE, N.D. (AP) – A park board meeting in the southwestern North Dakota community of Gladstone turned into a shouting match.

The Thursday meeting was to discuss the possible eviction of permanent campers from Gladstone’s Prairie Rose Park.

The campers are working in western North Dakota’s oil fields. They’ve been given notices that they’re supposed to leave by Aug. 10. But a lawyer says the notices weren’t authorized by a majority of the park board.

Park board member Monty Martin called other board members liars and said they were ignorant of the law.

He threatened to sue board member Erin McGahuey when she said he was acting like a dictator.

McGahuey called Martin’s statements “real mature.”

The board didn’t act on the eviction notice.

BELFIELD, N.D. (AP) – Belfield’s zoning board is allowing the
local school to use city-owned land for teacher housing.
School board member Tony Krebs says the school district will put
up some mobile homes. He says it’s difficult for Belfield to hire
teachers, and the mobile homes offer an affordable housing option.
The city-owned property has been zoned for commercial use.

The Belfield City Council has agreed to turn over at least seven
building lots for mobile homes. The district has an option for two
additional lots.
The school district will be leasing the land for five years. Any unused
property will revert back to commercial use.

MINOT, N.D. (AP) – A park within the North Dakota state
fairgrounds that lets visitors fish and shoot has been restored
after last summer’s flooding.
The state Game and Fish Department hosts the “conservation and
outdoor skills” park.

The Minot Daily News reports it was reopened Thursday during a ceremony.

It has a fishing pond with rainbow trout, perch and bluegill,
and places where visitors can practice shooting air rifles and bows
and arrows. There are displays to help people identify different
types of fish.
Last year’s state fair was canceled because of widespread
flooding in Minot.
After the Souris River receded, workers had to remove silt from
the conservation park, build a new fence and wash buildings.

The North Dakota State Fair begins Friday.
